I was just scanning pictures from one of our Disney trips from 1982 and found this picture. Brings back alot of memories. I think this ride closed in 1994.

I seem to remember reading about the subs (or pieces of the subs) being sold off. I also seem to remember reading that one of the subs appears somewhere in a present attaction, but i can't rememer where. I sure somebody will enlighten us.

I loved 20K leagues, but I only rode it as a youngster a couple of times in the early 80's. My parents pretty much refused to wait in line for it after that - apparently they thought it was pretty lame. From an adult's perspective, I expect they were right.

I can remember this being one of the highlights of going to MK! I used to beg to ride it over and over. Such a shame that they got rid of it. They should bring it back and make it a Nemo theme! How cool would that be?

Here's one from August of 1990:

Depressing; I never got to try this attraction.

Great web site about 20k movie, and the ride.

Me and my brother (ages 7 and 9) back in 1974 just fell in love with this ride!

I'm going to Disney tomorrow for my Honeymoon and will be wearing my Nautilus Crew Member pin. :cool1:

They will be having the nemo theme replacing it in Disneyland, I think in 2007. :hyper:

Congrats on your wedding!!!! Happy Honeymoon!!!! Thanks for the link!

This was the one attraction in the MK I absolutely hated DH loved it tho made my DD's and I ride it with him way to many times. Lines was horrible the thing was drippy and I hated it. Sorry:)

Even tho I didn't like it I do find it sad that it is of no more. Hasn't been there for years I find it sad when the old attractions close whether I like them or not. At least most of them as there is plenty of stuff I do like in the world to do, glad there is a variety.

I remember vividly being petrified that I was going to drown on that ride!!!
I love the idea of bringing it back with a Nemo theme!!! Why can't the imagineers think that creatively? A Pooh playground was the best they could do? Whoever came up with that and Stitch should be shot- IMO

::yes::
Oh, it was my favorite ride! was sooo bummed when we took DS in '96 & it was no longer1
Nemo & a tip of the hat to the Little Mermaid? Or just how about a Sea Station/aquanauts theme? or just a more elaborate 20,000 Leagues?
DH & I, a few months back, were actually talking along those lines & imagining just what we would put in; what could be done in terms of the physical ride itself, imagine a cool 'plunge' or 'swerve' (to avoid a giant squid? :scared1: )
In the blazing heat they could have sea animals pop up & 'spray' the crowd :teeth:
Please bring it back--it could be stellar! :boat:

I guess I am in the minority, but I always thought this ride was pretty lame - didn't care for and didn't miss it when it was gone, but then I know I love rides that others think are lame. Each to their own - it's great that there are so many different types of rides for different tastes.

I don't remember this ride too well. I'm not old enough to remember it. I'm only 18. All i know about it now is that they have sanded the top and there has been talk for years about making it into something called "Villian Mountain"

I never got to ride it. Maybe a duh question but where was it located?

Oh dear, I guess I am in the minority group, but I was happy to see this ride go! I always HATED riding this ride--climbing down those steep stairs to the cramped, wet, and stuffy, inside...boring, hard-to-hear narrative, and the effects were, frankly, lame. Plus, of all the rides in the MK, the line for this was always the worst! Good riddance to 20,000 leagues under the sea!
