What resort would you consider buying direct if it got major incentives/discounts?

While we all wait for the next round of incentives (that I don’t expect to have any fire sales at all), I thought I’d see what resorts people are most eager to see on sale— please vote and also, in the comments, list what you voted for and the price per point (BEFORE magical beginnings) you wouldn’t be able to resist.

(I ran out of option count limit so I combined some choices)

Now I need to think about how I would vote. 🤔

So I was tempted to vote for everything that’s attached to a Disney park…tried to keep it top my top options:

AKV: Around $150 I would be buying
AUL: Maybe $140 (hard to justify with so many great resale deals)
BCV/BWV: I voted for this but then realized that getting direct points here doesn’t really help me, because it expires soon, oops.
RIV/VDH: Would buy RIV below $150, probably. I haven’t actually stayed there and don’t expect it to hold resale great, but I do like skyliner and Epcot.
VGC: Who am I kidding? I tried to buy it at non-fire sale prices within the past month. 🙈

At this point in our DVC ownership journey, we're back to buying for specific, regular stays.

And, excluding the BCV contract going through ROFR right now, our regular stays that could benefit from more points are:
  • A week in a 1BR OV every other year at Aulani
    • We're not actually sure we want to commit to this and have an upcoming stay to confirm (or not)
  • A week in a WDW 1BR every year as a sleep around stay (trying new resorts each year, but the fallback will likely be a Poly 1BR TPV)
    • We basically have enough points for this, though not enough Poly points if 1BR TPV are tough to book at Poly at 7m at the time of year we want to go, so we'd need more Poly points to guarantee a room at 11m
    • This stay we also want to/plan to occasionally do a split stay with a CCV Cabin, and we would need more points to do this regularly, so SAP would be nice as it's always available at 7m
So we're really just 'in the market' for maybe-AUL, PVB, and kinda SAP? PVB is an excellent SAP so there's overlap there.

AUL - $130/pt for 150-200 points is probably what we would consider for direct, inline with the top-end of subsidized prices
PVB - $170/pt is probably the price point that would convince us to buy more points than we strictly need. We'd 'need' approximately 185pts (pending Island Tower points chart), but could put an additional 150 SAP to good use for Cabungalows

Yacht Club. :P

I assume the resort keep their same expiration dates?
Haha, I didn’t even remember to include all the DVCs that actually exist, let alone hypothetical future ones. If we’re including that, I am adding Park City ski lodge points. 😋
I see I am the only one to vote for OKW…

🤔
I’m starting to think you might be trying to corner the market in OKW points…like a one man ROFR but for direct sales. 🤣
I voted CCV just because it’s the only one I don’t have that I would want, and with one of the longest contract life’s it would be tempting… although I can’t even imagine owning 200pts at any one resort. lol

And VGC for obvious reasons. :)
I love the idea of CCV because of the combination of ultra long contract life AND relatively low point chart. I really need to try staying there sometime soon to get a feel for it. We’re EPCOT people and have booked CCV or BRV a couple times only to have a BC or BW waitlist clear.
I guess if there is a heck of a fire sale ($115?), but otherwise I’m not so sure. Pretty expensive for SAP use.
I think PVB may make better SAP if you bought them before the recent spike…aren’t their dues pretty low? I agree nobody is buying them for SAP in the past few months, lol.

I voted for SSR, AKV, and Poly. I’m assuming 150 points:

SSR probably around $120?
AKV probably around $115
Poly perhaps at $130

I would then take MB on all three if they were offered as Summer or early Fall incentives and I’d get fresh points in October.

Let’s be honest I’d buy VGC at a blowout price too, maybe $150.

Alas, I don’t see a direct purchase in my future.

Just want to publicly thank those of you with the courage to stand with me and vote for OKW. :drinking:

LOL!!!!! I just spilled my coffee! I feel like the Duke brothers in Trading Places, trying to corner the frozen orange juice market!

Of course, things turned out a little weird for the Duke brokers by the end of that movie..... 🤔

I voted for 3 that I would take for fire sale prices.
  • VGC - under $200 I would add some points direct
  • AKV - under $130 I would consider adding some points direct. Maybe sell off SSR to fund these
  • BWV - under $100 per point. With the 2042 end date, I refuse to overpay but would dearly love to own there, but even resale I think is too high for the short end date

This is how I feel about BCV and why I have been trying to steal it on the resale market. No luck with that, but as time goes on and we get ever closer to 2042, who knows.
