What is the best deal you have ever gotten?

Could be any thing from a shirt to a house..

For me I would say the best deal I ever got was a 10 day cruise for 399 dollars per person.

My best deal was roundtrip airfare from San Diego to Rome for $249, during peak season. :lmao::lmao:

That was one of the best weeks of my life!! :cloud9:

Don't know if i'd really able to say what my best deal ever was...

To me, anything that saves me money that I would've *normally* spent is a great deal to me.

Sure, I've seen some really good deals for vacations to carribean, mexico, etc.. but to me it's not really a deal, cause I'd have to spend a bunch to go there, lol.

But when we were planning our Disney trip couple yrs ago, we got a decent deal there.. we were gonna go whether we got a deal or not (wanted to take dd's for their first trip).. and was able to get a 40% code, which helped a TON.

Then other smaller deals which I've loved are... few yrs ago, Kodak was running a promotion where you'd log in each day, type in a code, and win something.... I definitely took advantage of that, and over the period of a few weeks, won tons of mousepads, mugs, coasters, collages, and tons of 4x6 and 8x10 prints. I've used those items around our house, for dd's scrapbooks, for christmas gifts that year, etc.

And just last week, took advantage of the 75% Behr sale... we're always painting/remodeling rooms, so that saved us a ton there... bought enough for a few projects at least.

But I think i'd have to say my favorite deal I got was our camper 2 yrs ago. Was in "like new" condition... current year model, but the people who bought it returned it after just 2 outings (guess they wanted bigger model)... still in perfect shape.. but we got it for almost 1/2 the going rate of a new one.

Not sure if it's really saved us money for vacations... we have always loved going on long weekend type trips ever since we got married.. would do a few per year.. but now that we've bought the camper, we've kinda upped that number up to about 8-10 per year, lol...

But not really spending any more for the trips... was always approx. $100/night give or take for hotels, and now can do approx. $30-40/night for campgrounds.... and I get my own bed/pillow every time! And to me, it's so much more relaxing.. love it!

My best deal was my bed.

When we were engaged, my now DH told me he had always wanted a cherry sleigh bed - so this went on our someday list. We went to a local warehouse furniture sale and in the major scratch and dent section was a cherry sleigh bed headboard and footboard. I asked how much and the guy said $30 - I asked if that was for each piece and he said nope - total. I asked what was wrong with it expecting a major chunk out of it. He said just a few scratches (things that would have happened very quickly at our house anyway) and the rails were missing. But he told me I could buy metal rails for about $100.

So we bought it and I figured if I couldn't find rails I was only out $30. We went back to pick it up on Monday in my sister's van and the guys were in the warehouse FOREVER. I was sure they didn't have it anymore. They finally came out and apologized b/c they couldn't find the rails at first but they finally did back in the warehouse. I said I didn't think it had rails - they said they found them and they were mine. Later that week I saw the bed on sale in their regular store. Normal price was $4300 on sale for $3300!!!! 15 years later and it is still one of my favorite pieces of furniture!!

I refinanced last year to a 30yr fixed 3.875% mortgage. That saves us $360 a month. With closing costs, we'll break even in 7 months, and since we're paying extra principal each month, we'll be paid off in 25 years (we'll finish paying at the same month/year as the original mortgage). This also saves$62500 in interest over the same time period, or $2500/yr.

If things are good, we'll pay more toward principal. Or if things are bad, we can forego the extra principal payment. And if interest rates ever go up, we can use that extra principal payment and put it in something that will earn us a little passive income.

It will be hard to get me to move out of this house now.

Probably the 85 king cab DH bought off a co-worker in '05 for $700. He put a free older engine in it and it ran like a top for 5 years before we blew the engine and sold it for $500. :woohoo:
We used that truck a ton remodeling our house, landscaping, lugging and hauling and moving for family. It was worth so much more than that $200!

Wow, you guys have gotten some awesome deals!

I have a couple I can think of. One is my dining room table. We used to have one that I loved, but our family outgrew it when we had our 5th child. At the time we couldn't afford a new one and didn't want to spend alot because our kids do their art activities at the table, too. We went to the furniture thrift store on the Army post we were at and found a table that seats 8 with 4 chairs for $75. We just used 4 other chairs from our old table. Plus I sold our old table with no chairs for $75 so we broke even .

The other one would probably be our house. We've been renting it for 3 years now and we're going to have to move out next year because our landlady wants to move back in. Our rent is $800 for a 4 bedroom house and she hasn't raised our rent the whole time we've been here because we're "such good renters". When we started looking at other houses to rent in our area we couldn't find anything under $1200.

we've gotten so many good deals that it's hard to decide which was the 'best'.

the boat we got off Freecycle would probably be DH's favorite.

the dining table we curb-shopped, still going strong 4yrs later

the playset I got for the kids 90% off for $15 back in '05, I finally got rid of it this past summer so $3 per year of use.

our mini-van was one of our better deals, traded in our truck and left with the mini-van and a check for the value difference in the 2 vehicles. Right before the gas prices went insane and trucks were worthless.

My company car. I've had company cars for years but recently I really wanted to get my dream car and my company decided to get it for me. I believe I have used up all of my good luck karma on this one deal.

My personal favorite is a $120 dress I bought while working retail in college. It was on clearance and with my employee discount I got it for $6.

I bought a pair of $180 Timberland boots, new with tags, at SA for $2.75. I think that is my best bargain yet.

Bought a 96 Camry for $50. Drove it everywhere between Pittsburgh and long island for 10 months, mainly from Penn state to scranton, and an entire summer of commuting to work. When he died, I junked him for $200 cash.

I've had countless deals where I've saved a ton. Too many to count and too many to remember them all. My favorite but not necessarily my best was the Columbia winter ski coat I bought for middle DS. The original price was $100+ - If found it on clearance in April and it was on clearance for $7 so I snatched it up for the next season. :cool1: He wore that coat for two years. Then his younger brother turned around and wore that same coat for another two years. When my youngest outgrew that coat I listed it on e-bay. I sold it for $25. :woohoo: Not bad for a kids coat that we'd gotten four years worth of use out of. :thumbsup2

I don't know if it's my best deal ever but yesterday I bought a $200 winter coat for $19.97. And on top of that it's even cute!

that Toyota is a winner:thumbsup2
I have so-o-o many,it's hard to pick....I bought my wedding dress brand new for 38.00:thumbsup2
a few years back flew to WDW for 38.00 per person, each way:thumbsup2
oh yeah, we're still driving cars from 1995 with no big issues:thumbsup2

Well the first thing that came to mind was the 60 bottles of Sobe I got for free last summer. LOL I had a bunch of the BOGO coupons and when CVS had them BOGO in I went, used the coupons and stocked up. :) I still have a bunch in the cabinet for this year. :) Next thing was my DD23's wedding dress....I just bought it over Valentine's weekend.....it was half price and it's gorgeous!!!! For $349 I got the garment bag and the dress! :) And the jr bridesmaids (her sister and cousin who is the same age as the sisters, they are 11 (sis), 13 (cousin) and 14 (sis, she will be 15 when the ceremony happens) for $60, originally priced $109. :) There are others, I am always bargain shopping, but those are the ones that come to mind first. :)

I once bought a "prom" dress for $6.97 just because it was a $200 dress and the price was so cheap. I ended up wearing it for a company halloween party and won 2nd prize which was $15.00 cash. I still have it 20+ years later.

I'm not sure I can pick just one. I've gotten $80 swim suits for $1, AG doll for $2, $200 purses for $10, $50 bear for $0.25.

We got the Swan and Dolphin on priceline for $75/night, 7-day Disney Cruise for $699/person (2 of us).

Oh, and a seemingly endless supply of underwear from Vickies and Inner Self for free. I haven't bought a pair of undies in about five years.

Can you tell I like a deal?

My boss and his wife had their house for sale for $140,000. They were willing to go down to $120,000.

He told me to come and take a look at it and see if I might be interested. I told him I was ok where I was and forgot about it for about a month.

He and his wife (we went to college together) contacted me and said they really felt like the Lord was asking them to offer the house to me for $60,000. I came and looked at it and it was gorgeous and exactly my style of house! Built in 1901, oak built-in cabinets, 5 bedrooms, newly insulated, etc... Included were the front loader washer dryer set, fridge, stove, dishwasher, and gorgeous amish built storage shed out back.

The only catch was my house had to sell. 2 days after I put up my Home Depot for-sale sign we had a buyer.

One of the biggest blessings in my life!

My most recent fabulous deal is the desk I just bought through the excess equipment sale at work. I work in gov't and they have to hold a bid process for all the excess equipment.

My new desk (soon to be kitchen island/crafting table) is solid wood, double-sided with multiple drawers in several sizes and only $36!
