Hello everyone! After being recently engaged, my fiance and I quickly decided that we would love to spend our honeymoon at WDW. My fiance has never experienced Florida OR WDW which would make it extra special. We've traveled to Disneyland several times throughout our courtship so that is why Disneyworld would be the perfect adventure for our Honeymoon!

My only quip is that I have only been to WDW once, and that was in April... I have no idea what it is like in August as far as weather, humidity and crowds are concerned. So any help would be appreciated!

Is it a bad idea to do Orlando in August? And how many days would you suggest doing at WDW? We really want to spend at least one day at the beach (ie.. cocoa beach, ft lauderdale?). Thanks so much for any help!

We honeymooned in Disney last August.:goodvibes

While it wasn't terrible. It is the hottest time of the year, and prob one of the busiest for Disney. As long as you plan for it, and expect it you will be fine! Just know that it is VERY hot! But almost anywhere you is going to be very hot in August!!!:cool2:

Make sure you start making your reservations early, especially for any dining you two are looking into. They book up very, very fast!!

Thanks so much! Glad to know it is doable in August!

Our reservations and planning has already started so I was kind of nervous someone would tell us it is way too hot to go...

I've lived in Vegas though where it is about 120 everyday and granted Florida humidity makes it hotter (i bet)... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can handle the heat!

well, I live in FL so I am used to it!!

But I still think as long as you are prepared (and by that I mean bring sunblock!!!) you will be fine!!

Yeah it's really hot in August, but definitely doable!
As far as how much time....most people would say 7-10 days, I think. If you don't want to rush and want it to be a relaxing trip as well, that is.
We like to go for 10 days and that's how long we'll be there for our wedding.
Have fun! :goodvibes

DH and I always go to WDW in August and were married/honeymooned there in August '07. Crowds are not that bad, as long as you take advantage of the early mornings and evenings -- skip the parks in the afternoon! It's definitely hot and humid, but it's manageable since a lot of the attractions are air conditioned. We were there for 2 weeks for our wedding/honeymoon.

we were there two years ago for two weeks...But, it was my mom sister and I and we still had an AMAZING time. We hit all the places in the morning and left by 1:00 when the crowds were unbearable...

If you are from a warmer climate the heat/humidity wont bother you much. I actually was one of those dopes you see fainting getting off the starwars ride lolol.... but I truly think it was the ride not the heat...

I would def stay at least 10 days in Aug because you want to leave the parks before their crowded beyond movement!
HTH

We are doing our honeymoon the first two weeks in Aug at Disney, we will be staying at the WL... We do Aug every year and it is not bad at all, and we usually camp in a tent at FW. So WL for the honeymoon is a huge treat!!!:worship: Congrats to you!!! You will love it.

We are honeymooning in August too. I have gone to WDW in August once before and it wasn't too bad. I am hoping that the crowd levels will be the same this time as they were 2 years ago, but I have a feeling that there will be more people there. But IMO, it doesn't really matter how many people are there. I am going to have a great time on my honeymoon no matter what. :goodvibes I hope you do too.

ive been to vegas the first week in august and disney the last week in august, i say temp/heat wise the are comparable...im from boston so im used to humidity...its definately doable.....later august is less crowded than early august, but as others said take advantage of early and late park hours for less crowds and more comfortable weather ..congrats and enjoy

We pretty much always go to WDW in August, however I have decided to have my wedding a bit later...mostly due to the humidity. The rainshower in the afternoon which happens pretty much every day in August could really put a "damper" on an afternoon ceremony...plus we were there last year during hurricane Fay which kind of made me a bit leery of August. I find the humidity goes down just slightly in late September...but that's just one opinion!

Whenever we go in July/August- we make sure we get up early to go to the parks and then take a break in the afternoon- when it gets REALLY HOT. (Splash in the pool- take a nap in the air conditioned room) and then go back out a little later.

It helps beat the heat!

And don't forget, it rains just about every afternoon. We have been the last week in August more than once, and the crowds have died down at that point because most schools go back that last week in Aug. I do agree with all the other posters, go in early, leave for the pool by noon...have lunch...enjoy the spa...do fun things together ourside of the parks, and then go back into the parks in the evening...you'll have a great time.
