Hello all my favorite people in the DIS World I have just completed my first Disney Cruise and perhaps I can give you perhaps a bit of a look inside...

We've all heard it...Disney Cruise is the best blah blah...however for experienced cruisers who have done many cruises which might cost the price of one Disney cruise...one can be weary, especially from an adults point of view.

I can share some of my concerns going in and how I felt going out...

First off people think you will be overwhelmed with children...from my experience it was pretty much the exact opposite, yes children were around - however I believe most were in the oceanears club as they weren't nearly commandeering the ship as I was lead to believe so.

Also, they kids that were around were all good kids...I didn't see any kind of behavior which would impact an adults enjoyment of the cruise.

The food was absouelty incredible...I didn't believe the food would be that good going in but man the food was incredible and to have a venue change every night? Who could ask for more - three different resturants with your incredible wait staff following you...it was truly incredible. I also could not have asked for begged table mates...I now have friends in England and Puerto Rico.

The service is incredible everyone has a smile on their face and want to go out of their way to help you. Again, going in I thought it was nonsense but it really is true...

Pirate night and the fireworks are amazing - again you can read and hear about it until your face turns blue but the ships pirate night is something you and your family most do. The entire ship gets into it- and you feel like something special! You're not getting wishes caliber firwoeks but to see them at sea was just incredible...

Finally the entertainment and castaway cay was incredibly enjoyable - way better than I have ever enjoyed another ships performances. They are excellent and do NOT pander to a kiddy audience - it's inclusive meaning both adults and kids can enjoy.

All I can say is as a Disney fan I just wanted to cross this off my list of been there done that - however now I'm hooked. I've sailed many carnival and Royal Carribean cruises and without a doubt this was the best cruise I was on.

Adults you will not be bored they have movies for you to enjoy in a beautiful movie theater - a private space for hot tub use and even a private night lounge. It was absouelty a dream come true.

Please if you are on the fence, book it - this was from two adults who had the time of their lives on this cruise. It was absouelty amazing and I will absouelty be sailing with Disney in the future.

Any questions ask but again going in as a skeptic and coming out this amazed? Can't beat that!

Oh yes, DCL is very addictive!!! Our first the Maiden voyage of the Magic back in 1998 and fell in love with DCL. 34 DCL cruises and still going strong. Glad you enjoyed it. All their ships are works of art but the Dream and Fantasy take it up a notch!!

So glad to read this! My husband and I are going on our first cruise (ever!) for our honeymoon at the end of the month, and were curious how it feels to a couple not travelling with kids.

Also, your costume game is ON. POINT.

Woooooo thanks!!!

You guys will LOVE it trust me don't like anyone tell you otherwise the kids are a NON FACTOR they are hidden in their own club.

It will be the best honeymoon ever, again as 2 adults you will love it.

I know every time we saw you, you were smiling :earboy2: I agree with everything you said. This one was our second one on the Dream and I don't know how but it was even better than our first one (which the first one blew me away).

Our first one we did with my wife's parents, this was the first one we did on our own. We were very nervous about having table mates as the last one we only sat with her parents. I don't know how Disney does it but they sat us with some absolutely wonderful couples who will now be life long friends. We all even spent the day at Castaway Cay together. It totally changed the dynamic of our cruise in a wonderful way we weren't even expecting. I had heard they try to match you with the similar people but I had no idea that it would work out as well as it did.

I let myself go and embraced everything this cruise. I was up dancing my pirate jig during Club Pirate on the top deck after the fireworks. At Animators Palate, I was the one Crush picked out in our area and had to stand up and talk to my wife in "whale" lol

I will add that on our last cruise, we "observed" everything from deck 12 (like the Sail Away party, Buccaneer Blast, etc) but on this one we participated directly on deck 11 and it was a totally different experience. It was exactly what we needed and was a total blast.

The crew, what else can I add to that. They were incredible. Again, I didn't think they could impress me anymore after our first cruise with them but they did. Since this was our second one we received our "Silver Castaway Club" lanyards when we checked in and we wore them. Just about every crew member that ran into us would tell us "Welcome home" or "glad you're back", it just made us feel so at home. At dinner, one of our table mates was a vegetarian and when we were at Enchanted Garden really wanted the truffles from Animators Palate the night before, the servers went and got it for her! I had heard they will do that stuff but had never physically seen it, folks it's true.

I have to admit, we've fallen in love with DCL so much we almost want to cruise more than we want to go to the parks anymore lol As @CampbellzSoup has said, the hype really is true. That's not to say that people don't have bad experiences because I'm sure they do but for my wife and I, we won't sail on anything but DCL (our personal opinion).

The 2 couples that were our table mates, this was their first cruise and neither had kids with them. Both of them this was their first Disney Cruise and one coupe it was their first cruise ever. All four of them were totally in love with the cruise and echoed most all of the comments that @CampbellzSoup made. Both of the couples also re-booked while on board if that gives you any hint as to how much they liked it ;-)

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm of your trip! We've done 4 DCL cruises and after we've been off the ship we always start looking at other lines because of the price. I need to read stuff like this to help remember how much we love DCL. I hope you booked another while you were board.

We decided on our 3rd cruise that we would rather skip the parks and cruise instead, it's now our favorite Disney vacation.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your cruise.
We can't agree more as adult only travelers. We are not Disney fans, sorry we like Universal studios much better. We're hooked too and will be going on our 6th this summer.

Again, totally worth it although I do see it being a bit pricey for a big family to be able to do it...

My next Disney cruise will be in 2018 I wanted to book on board but honestly I had no time I was like a ping pong ball going back and forth!

Glad to hear you had a good time! Yes, it's easy to get hooked. I just booked my fourth Disney cruise and planning including a deposit for a fifth cruise so that I can take advantage of OBB. Can't wait!

For future reference, while onboard you don't have to sit at the future cruise desk to take advantage of the booking onboard perks. There's a card you can pick up in passing. Just fill it out when you get a minute. Tell them you want a placeholder. Drop it in the slot back at the desk and it's done. They'll charge your stateroom account the $200 deposit. Now you have a placeholder that you have up to 2 years to use all without spending any time at the desk or brain power trying to make big decisions. I'm not one who is good with big decisions such as choosing my next vacation on the spot. I have to pour over the details, compare, shop, think, worry unnecessarily.....LOL! I believe in the placeholders!

So glad you had a fabulous time! I think the ship being commandeered by kiddies is a common misconception. Sooooo not the case! My hubby & I have sailed DCL without our boys 3 times. We always enjoy it. A group of my Disney-centric girlfriends and I do a 4-night cruise sans spouses or kiddos every September. This year is #4. We always have an amazing time. We enjoy letting our hair down but still indulging our inner-child in the moment.

Glad you had a wonderful time.
My husband and I have sailed 8 times as a couple and 5 times with the family.
We love DCL, its our floating 5 star hotel, that takes us to many new ports and some repeats too.
I will not sail any other cruise line, I am hooked on Disney!!!

Excellent post and oh man what a great time saver that would have been...

So glad you enjoyed your Disney cruise! We have gone on two with the family and now I am going with my sister in a few weeks and I can't wait. I'm excited for a just adults cruise because there is so much to do that doesn't have to include children. Disney cruises for me are a great balance of great food, entertainment and a little bit of nightlife without a casino type of atmosphere. And I love the picture you took!

Where do you guys recommend going next on a Disney cruise? Call be asleep from here I would prefer to step my game up and go on a seven day cruise.

I wonder if I have enough costumes for seven days lol
