Cast of Characters: CJ, age 27 (me!)
Josh, age 29 (DH and it's his birthday!)
Well, here it is 5 days after my fabulous trip to S. Cali with my oh-so-awesome hubby. My goodness, the trip was GREAT!!! We went places and saw things we have never done/seen before and it was so great to just get away together and BE in the moments together. 4 days and only 1 spat? Fabulous!!
DAY ONE: Thursday, March 9 (DH's 29th bday)
We kind of lagged around town and ate some Mongolian BBQ (mmm!), headed to Turlock for some Target action and then hit the road. We hit Anaheim pretty late, like 8pm-ish. Checked in the hotel and it was awesome!! Yay for new-to-us hotel, Lemon Tree! LOL We went to Downtown Disney to get our grub on at ESPN Zone (mmm again!) and then went to the hotel and crashed.
DAY TWO: Friday, March 10
We slept in a little and then went to Commerce and checked out the Citadel Outlets and then ate at Ruby's Diner. Was soooo cold and rainy!! We got to Disneyland around 3pm and rode the tram to California Adventure. Park wasn't too crowded. Got some FastPasses for Tower of Terror for later that evening, rode California Screamin' and then booked it over to Disneyland, where Josh got to meet Cruella Deville-my lil villian fan was over the moon! Went to Haunted Mansion (my favorite ride and I haven't been on it since 1992!) but it was closed cos of problems. We went on Indiana Jones and the Jungle Cruise and then checked out the Bengal BBQ for some meat on a stick (wasn't impressed) and then walked around Frontierland where Josh bought a Captain Hook hat and wore it around. Went back to Haunted Mansion and it was basically a walk on, WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! LOVE this ride!!! Went back to California Adventure and rode Tower of Terror (AWESOME in the dark!!!) and then one more time on Screamin' and then back to Disneyland where we went to the candy store (mmm choco covered strawberries!) and got seats for the fireworks. We split a turkey leg (Josh was not impressed) while waiting and then fireworks were cancelled due to high winds. :-( Went and rode Space Mountain and then headed to New Orleans Square where we waited in the cold and rain for Fantasmic! Fantasmic! was awesome as usual. After F!, we rode the Monorail to Downtown Disney to do sme shopping but the stores were already closed, so we got the car and went back to hotel.
DAY THREE: Saturday, March 11
We headed to Balboa Island which is in Newport Beach. This place was great! Tons of little stores with great art and some with crafts, and a bunch of people walking their dogs. After seeing all we wanted to see we hit the road and drove through Huntington Beach, Long Beach and Venice Beach. Venice Beach we got out for some sightseeing but it was so darn cold we lasted about 5 minutes. Walked back to the car and headed to Santa Monica. SM was a little less cold and windy so we walked around, ate at a place called Yankee Doodles and then walked around some more. I was quite intoxicated off some mixed drink I had never had before, called a Hawaiian Punch. Had 4 different alkys in it and some OJ and Pineapple juice and it was strooooooooooong. I'm a big girl and can usually suck down 5-6 Long Islands no problem AND have some shots and be nowhere near as messed up as this drink made me. Stear clear! LOL After walking around some more, we walked back to the car and headed to Sunset Blvd. for the Laugh Factory as Josh wanted to watch a comedy show but it was really packed so we decided to drive Sunset Blvd. again and look and then head back to Anaheim. We decided to go to Downtown Disney one more time to try and shop and this time we made it before they closed!! YAY! I can't remember what we bought, except I got 3 choco covered strawberries (1 for my Dad, 1 for Delaney and 1 for Jyl) and I stopped in at Basin to get some Bath Bombs for Nicole's upcoming birthday. Headed back to the hotel where I took a bath with one of MY bombs (gotta love that spa tub!) and then we went to sleepy town.
DAY FOUR: Sunday, March 12
We decided to go to Disneyland for about an hour so that Josh could meet a villain at the new Villain's Lair. After waiting for awhile, and buying some presents for Katie's birthday (at the Princess shop) and a Tinkerbell jewelry box for Jyl's birthday (at the Tink store) Josh got to meet the Evil Queen from Snow White!! She was AWESOME!!! Snapped at him, "Where is your respect???" And he bowed to her and they had a little chat and I snapped some pics and we were out of there. We stopped at the Candy Store again for some cookies for favors for Jyl's birthday party and then we left DL. We decided to eat at Ruby's Diner in Commerce again but it wasn't as good as last time. Hit the road and encountered SNOW on the Grapevine!! Got to my parents house a little after 7pm and picked up the girls. Girls and my dad digged on the strawberries and then we left for home. 7 minutes later we unloaded the car in the rain and remarked on what a great time we had. YAY!!!
PS-Josh's new car was a SMOOOOOTH ride!!!
PPS-Funny story: While waiting in line to meet Cruella, we overheard C.D. say to the parents of a small child "He's cute, how much do you want for him?"
And the mom said "He's not for sale"
To which C.D. replied "Great! Then he's free!"
Highs: The Lemon Tree Hotel (exceeded our hopes!)
