Just Deserts? Is That Okay?

If my DW and I want to experience some of the wonderfuly themed resturants but not spend alot because we will be on a limited budget can we go for just desert and coffee or is this frowned upon by Disney. Can PS be made for just desert. Some places we have in mind are SciFi Drive In, 50s Prime Time, and San Angel Inn in Mexico at Epcot. Any other Ideas?

I hope thats ok. We are going to Sci Fi--and while both of my kids will order dinner, and DH too, I'm thinking I will just get a shake or a dessert--since they don't make you put money down on those PS's--like they do for a character meal with a set buffet price--I don't think they really care what you eat.....at least, that's what I'm hoping!
