 Why oh why does disney torture my budget this way?
I already qualify for the military discount though so I need to stay strong:laughing:

Ya but wouldn't you rather be close to the action. Get free parking, extra magic hours. If you get board in the evening you can walk around and explore your resort.

I haven't found much that can beat the military discount and offer the convenience of staying on property. All the hotels close tend to charge resort/parking fees so on site works better. We have AKL in December for $200/night and Pop next month for $60/night.

I am staying offsite and booked the Wishes Dessert party and two days later got a pin! Hrrmmmm! Funny how Disney works. Still not a better deal for me though (Bonnet Creek, 2 bedroom for $110 a night). Maybe next time!

No matter what I do and how much I stress, I always stick with Dsney property with the military discount. I couldn't even give in to Shades of Green, because you still have to pay to park there as well as at the parks, because I don't like their buses.

AFVC or Armed Forces Vacation Club has some great rates $349/week, sometimes even $299/week, but you would still have to pay for parking and then you give up Extra Magic Hours, which are important to us. Maybe someday, because you can't beat a 1br, 2br, or 3 br for $53/night.

Is the military discount only for active members of the military? Someone in our party was formerly in the military, but is no longer enlisted.

Have to have an ID card, so if they retired out (20 years), yes they can get the discount. Otherwise no.

As he is only 26, I'm GUESSING he didn't retire out. :lmao:

If he was honorably discharged with a DD-214, he is eligible to stay at Shades of Green during January and September. Check out their website for more info.

Check with him, if he has an ID card, he may be eligible.
