a few weeks back (around May 25th) the lego store had a very long line and we saw people carrying lots of Lego packages around. I know Lego is a popular store but was wondering if there was a special going on?
From what I’ve read on trip reports it can be the norm for LEGO to have a queue however I’d love to be told otherwise because I know my daughter is going to want to go in lol

You can make a reservation to customize a lego (through lego not Disney) and if you get one you don’t have to worry about a potential line. I’m not sure of their release schedule for reservations though.
We were there in June and they were wrapped around the building. Disney Springs is bigger and more popular than ever and there are lots of Lego fans. Unlike a Mickey plush, you can only find certain items in that one store.

They started limiting the number of people in the store when they reopened after covid and have kept a tight rein on it ever since. It used to be that the doors were wide open and it was always packed. Now you have to queue to maintain occupancy limits. We have been multiple times since they reopened after covid and almost always have to queue -- sometimes it's a pretty long line and other times we wait very little.
