We are planning a three week vacation to Disney December 2013 30th Nov - 20th Dec (approx) for 8 of us.

We have accommodation sorted through our DVC membership so we just need to organise flights. We are worried that with flights only being available 11mths out from your return date that we may not be able to get what we want. To cut a long and complicated story short, this is a busy time for DVC and we have to book at our 11mth window to get what we want. This is before flights are available, if we book our villa then cant get flights or make drastic changes we put our DVC points at risk.

So the plan is to book a fly drive, according to Virgin on the phone tonight we could do this around Jan 2012. We would only need to book a minimum of 1 day car hire as we don't really need the car. We could book and use the V Room which is a nice perk. We priced a mock booking tonight as a flights only on the VA website and a flydrive on VH and it was only £100 difference in price. We could book with a deposit and pay balance 12 weeks in advance. It all seems to good to be true so what am I missing! Has anyone else done this?

TBH I always book my DVC at the 11 month window and worry about flights after. Although a busy DVC it is not a busy time for flights so I really don't think it will be a problem.

This year Virgin released the Autumn/Winter holidays for 2012 in April on their website so I would guess for a fly-drive in Winter 2013 you should be able to book it from April next year. Keep an eye out for sales online too as they often do early booking sales, if they don't include fly-drives then it might be worth talking to someone in person, preferably face to face, and sweet-talking a discount out of them, for 8 people they are looking at a good commission so should be happy to try and help you out. Good luck, I say go for it and if the fly-drive option doesn't work out then there will be plenty of other options that will fit with your plans as you have got so much time to work it out. Have a great time. :thumbsup2

Usually we do the same Elise but this trip is special and there don't seem to be any disadvantages that I can see to booking the fly drive package!

Thanks for the info Julie I think we are definitely going to try this :)
