Just curious are there any DVC owners who are attending the NKF Conference in April?

I am planning on attending the NKF spring clinical meeting in April. Myself and another colleague will be attending and I am starting to research housing options. Thinking of off site, but not sure if anyone wants to room share _ we could pay DVC MF + a little. We are RD's. I own DVC but I am saving my points for our trip in 2018. transferring or renting points will likely cost more than what the conference room rates will be.
I think the conference room costs are going to be expensive (not released yet) because 1. It is the week of Easter and 2. it is the Dark side marathon week --- Could NKF pick a worse week!!

I booked a 2bd at Wyndham bonnet creek from April 16-19 for less than the maintenance fee for the point cost on a BWV standard studio per day.

I decided I did not want to use my dvc points bc it's high season.

I think you can cancel up to 21 days before if you use vacation strategy... Just an FYI

if you use vacation strategy.

I have never heard of them with that site are you working directly with the owner with that like a davids dvc website? I did see some Bonnet Creek on VRBO.com. It looks like it would be pretty close and not that bad of a drive and very reasonable.

With respect to vacation strategy, I online chatted and asked for a quote. Then i called and asked for a quote. Then I emailed them and asked for a quote.

I recieved a different quote each time.

The email quote was by far the cheapest. I immediately put down a deposit.

When I went to request a slight change to the schedule (adding or deleting a day), the price went up substantially. So I'm keeping my dates as is :).

It's vacationstrategy.com -- the I loooooove bonnet creek thread (under Disney hotels) in this forum pointed me to that site.

There's also vacationupgrades.com- not sure what their cancellation policy is, though....

I also initially booked at agoda.com -- I just cancelled the rooms today. The 2bd was $145/night, and the 1bd was $125/night. I think they no longer have 2bds for Easter wknd but they might have 1bds left. You can cancel up to a month beforehand for this site.

Hope this helps!!

I have never used them, but Vacation Strategy is one of several large brokers who work similar to David's offsite -- in particular, at Wyndham Bonnet Creek.

There are a ton of offsite options, but it's best to have a car offsite. Some resorts, including Wyndham Bonnet Creek, offer a shuttle service but they are not always free. WBC's is actually rather pricey I think for families, but might be ok if you are only paying for one person.

Check the DIS Orlando Resorts and Attractions board for more info than you will be able to digest.

ETA: arriving between April 20 and April 24, there is a good bit of availability at WBC: 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms available for 7 nights. A different arrival date and shorter stay would change availability, of course. But it's certainly not impossible.
