Just cancelled our trip-Could not get any of the restaurants we wanted.UPDATE ON PG 4

Uh oh. We are going Aug 3-11 and I haven't even tried getting any ADRs yet. Does this mean I won't get anything basically?

Say it ain't so ....

I couldnt believe it when I read this post, because this is exactly what DH just told me to do! I could only get 4 of the restaurants we wanted for our anniversary trip sept 27-oct 4. So he said cancel the trip. Im not though, because I didn't opt for the $33 extra 'cancel for any reason' insurance policy. I waited 20 minutes and called back and got 2 more ressies, but still missing Ohana. The first person was wierd though, she kept talking to people in the backround.

Well, you're talking just a few weeks from now so I suspect you might have difficulty getting exactly what you want. I'd make it a high priority to take care of trying to get the ADRs asap (like today if possible). You may want to have some alternate choices at the ready when you call because, at this late date, you may be shut out of some of your choices.

Good luck!

JasmineTigger, I just wanted to say hi! I'm a Worcester/north Florida person too. Didn't think there were many out there like me :D

You will have a great time in December. We normally go at that time of year. The decorations are absolutely beautiful and the weather is much nicer than during the heat and possible hurricanes of September/October.

Have a great time in December. Maybe we'll see you there.

Disney really needs to consider adding more table service to the parks. Not saying the dining plan isn't part of the reason, but it's been getting progressively harder and harder for the past handful of years to get a table service last minute. It's obvious that the trend has been shifting this way for a long time, or Disney wouldn't have created a dining plan to capitalize on it. . . now they just need to figure out how to meet the demand. Sure there are ADRs to be had somewere on property, but most people don't want to spend the travel time when they're in the parks.

Isn't that sad. Vacations and special times are supposed to be fun, not so stressful.
If it were me, I would of thrown the free meals out the window and went anyways, some of our best times have been a hot dog on a bench watching the world (and people) go by. That said, I think WDW has created a 'monster' with this free dining stuff and you've been a victim of it.

If you're going & don't have ADRs...you can always try when you get to your resort. We've had pretty good luck in the past doing that....calling the morning of or the day before...I think you can also call while in the parks, but I'm not sure what phones you are to use. (Of course, this may cause some stress not having ADRs that you want before you go.)

To the OP: going in December is my dream (it would be awesome to be there for my bday), so have a blast I've heard it's just beautiful!

I wouldn't wait too much longer for Christmas either.

I noticed when we were there in June that PT is very different and even changed their menu. Their portions are smaller and I believe it's due to the dining plan. We usually eat buffets so other than that, I didn't notice. Now, there is still plenty of food, but I did notice the portions are smaller.

That is terrible. I love to eat at disney too!! But Christmas will be beautiful with all the decorations. I just got a ressie at Boma for 3 weeks from now but it is way early because we have a little one. Good luck with the Dec planning.

Hi yearbook50. I'm just like you. I hold strong to my Worcester roots, even though I've been down here for some time now. I'm sure there is more out there like us. :)

debbiepump,

The sad thing is we weren't even on the free dining plan. We had just planned it last minute so we missed free dining. I know what you mean about the hot dog and the bench thing. I love doing that to. But the whole idea behind this trip was the restaurants, fine dining, no kids. So when I couldn't get the restaurants, it kind of defeated the purpose of the trip. :)

When you go in Dec~ make sure you plan for a couple of adults only eve's. Drop off the shorty's at a kids club :thumbsup2

We definitely plan on doing this. The grandparents will be coming with us, so we have a built-in babysitter.

Just called in for our Aug 3-11 and got 4 ADRs for 7 people each no problem (where and when I wanted). Some were 2 tables, but that's not a problem because we have 3 adults going and my 3 daughters are the independent types.

I thought Chef Mickeys had a lunch but they said no. Back to the drawing board on that one. :guilty:

Ah ha -- the free dining apparently doesn't start until right after we leave --- thank goodness!

I booked for sept dining way back in april and did not get everything, but when I called aI had a list of places.....
and we are not on free dining....
be forewarned lots of places will be full up.
:goodvibes
next time I will call on the 180 day mark...

I just wanted to offfer some advise on your Dec trip. I think you should start looking into making your ADR's now. A few weeks back when 180 mark hit there is a thread about people "trying" to get certain times for DEC and couldn't. Have fun - I am going tin Dec and can't wait.

I'm getting nervous about being able to eat anywhere. I'm leaving in a week and don't have reservations anywhere. My wife and I went last June and just went by the place in the morning to make a lunch reservation or went by at lunch to make a dinner reservation. Couldn't always get the exact time but always within an hour. Now we are going with another couple and I see that people are making reservations months in advance and having problems getting a table! I'm afraid having two more will make it less flexible for the resturaunt and that we might not be able to eat anywhere we want. Are my fears unfounded???
