What was the reason for you canceling your "Free Dining". I hope all is ok and your still going on tyour trip.

Hi, Thanks for your concern.
I had been trying to decide between the beginning of August and the end of August (free dining). The beginning of August just seemed to be a better choice for us. Hated to give up the free dining, but maybe next time.

The room I gave up at ASSports is a preferred room and the main pool at that preferred area is being refurbished, just so you know.

the rooms that are discounted go back into the regualr room rate pool. They have always done this with any discounted offer.

We also cancelled a reservation at ASSports yesterday. 9/22-9/30, non-preferred room.

DW and I both made reservations without the other knowing about it (we knew we were taking the trip, just not that we were both calling for reservations). I book POR and she booked ASSp, when both confirmation letters arrived, we figured it out and opted to keep the POR.

Wow, must of been really to walk away from the free dining. That is the reason we are going. We had the same trip planned for last year, but my wife ruptured her achillies heel and we had to cancel. This year when it was offered we jumped on it. We arrive on 8/25 a day before the dining plan starts, so we had to book it seperate 1 nite stay from the package. Hope, well I know you'll enjoy your trip, how can you not. We are staying at PC. We never stayed there before, but have heard great things about it.

Well, I figured as long as the free dining deadline (6/24) has not passed and Disney was trying to fill their values, that someone may be able to snag this on the free dining package. I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it anyway.

Actually, I booked the free dining so late in the game that I was thinking that the TS meals would all be booked, so that sort of took the fun out of it. Also, all I could get, since I booked so late, was ASSp preferred, and once I found out the main pool near this preferred section was being refurbished and the pools mean a lot to us, I didn't feel like paying preferred prices for bulldozers, no main pool access, possible crowded smaller pools, and what-not. But yes, in the beginning, I was very excited to be part of free dining no matter where I was booked. It's a killer value! Have a great time!

Just an FYI

P\I am posting the dates the pools are slated to be closed:

Surfboard Pool and Kiddie Pool closed at All Star Sports for refurbishment from 8/27 - 9/13. The Grand Slam pool will remain open and guests can also use the pool at the two other All Star Resorts.

Sorry, I did not have any restaurants. When I read that I might not be able to get any TS meals because things were booked so quickly, I didn't bother to book anything. Like I said, it sort of took the fun out of free dining thinking I would have to scramble to try to find a TS meal. I just didn't want to be bothered with all that. I know I am missing a good deal. Have fun everyone!
