Can this method realy help me? I saw a cute tee-shirt today that I love  Size L and I buy XL. So I was thinking about buying the smaller size to help motivate me more to lose weight. Has anyone tried this method?

i have bought things that were snug knowing i wanted to lose a few and in the right mindset of doing just that. i have never bought a full size smaller, i would think a t-shirt would be safe. i wouldn't try it with jeans or shorts, they just all fit so differently and for me i know i don't lose proportionally. i always lose first in really boring places like my wrists and ankles, my trouble spots seems to be the last ones to shed. (hips/thighs)

I just bought a bathingsuit that I know will look much better once I lose my gut. I keep it hanging in the front of my clost so that I see it everytime I open the door. It provides inspiration to do those crunches I hate so much!

I actually do it all the time. It's good when I actually loose the weight, but bad when I gain some back.

Some how this time I MUST learn to keep it off for good. I just bought Jeans a few weeks ago. I sure wish I would have bought a smaller size. I've lost just a few pounds but they seem baggy already. They are the lower waisted jeans so they have a big gap in the back.

I think with T-shirts you should be ok. The one thing I notice though is that I do NOT loose in the chest for the most part. I do a bit, but not much. Some people loose a lot in that area.

I have a whole closet full of summer clothes(from last summer)that I can't wear until I lose about 15 lbs. I don't have much else to wear, so I look at these all the time for inspiration. I think it's a good idea!

I have heard of people doing that before and for some it worked. If this is your motivation then thats all it takes... Its mind over matter. Keep the shirt out and look at it daily to remember your goal.
Gl and I hope it works for you! :thumbsup2

If it works as motivation for you - go for it. When I started losing weight I was wearing a size 20 jeans. A friend gave me a size 16 pair of Gap jeans that I hung on my closet door for motivation. I never dreamed that I would be able to wear a pair of jeans from the Gap, but I kept them there just in case. This morning I had to add them to the donate to Goodwill pile - they are too big. Its a great feeling when you try something on an it fits, knowing that at one time it was too tight!

I would certainly do it! I had a box of things that were one size to small. I just tried them on the other day and YIPPEE! 85% of them are in my dresser to wear! Very excited.

This may sound weird, but I had an aunt that would put a mirror inside her frig, about the spot her hips and thighs would hit. She said it kept her from snacking in the middle of the night. She always maintained her weight, even at age 80!
