Anyone ever used these on hot park days?

They look like a thin scarf that yu soak in water and wrao around your neck to get cooled off.

I was wondering if I should go ahead and buy some for my whole family...we also have the misters from last WDW trip. I am trying to find the best possible way to make the kids endure the heat, although they know what to expect.

Soooo has anyone tried these neck bands?

I've seen these at art fairs before. I wonder if they work well, it seems like it'd be a great little tool for keeping cool on those hot Orlando days...

I have used them - I think they help cool you off some ...

The name on what I purchased was Cool Neck Tie - I paid 3.99 at the sporting goods store. I recently saw a 6 pack of them on QVC for like $18-20 for the group

I hope that they work too since I just bought two this afternoon also. I found mine at Wal-Mart for $2-$3 and I already "tried" one. Wow that stuff expands. I was thinking how is this little tsp. full of stuff going to do anything. It does feel very cool hours later and isn't drippy at all so I have high hopes for it on our summer trip. Hey, if it helps just a little that would be great!

what does it look like, and where in Wal Mart can you find it??

I'm wondering this as well. What are they called, and what section did you find them in? DH and I are going to Wal-Mart tomorrow to buy some more Disney supplies and I would really like to get some of these! :earsboy:

Yes, they are great! I found them in WalMart in the sporting goods/camping area for $2.88. They are strips of fabric that are about 2 feet long and 2 inches wide. They are folded up and are on a hanging display, you might need help finding them. Ask for the "cool bandanas" and describe them to the clerk. Sometimes they don't know their stock too well.
When you are ready to use them, fill the sink in the hotel with cool water and soak them for about 5 minutes. You won't believe how they puff up into a roll! It feels like they have a gel in them. They stay cool and moist all day & feel so good around your neck! You can re-cool them during the day if necessary, in a drinking fountain. They will stay puffed up for literally days. If you are using it again the next day, just re-soak it before you leave for the day, to get it cool again. I carry a zip lock bag in my backpack to stash it, so it doesn't wet the other stuff. When you are done using it, lay it flat and undisturbed somewhere and it will dry up and flatten out like new in a few days. It is re-usable!
Give it a chance, for $2.88 it's worth a try!

They come in typical hanky colors like the red w/ white designs and blue w/ white and then others like the American flag etc. They are narrow and small and hang from a cardboard display wrapper. The name on them is Aqua Cool. They were in the camping area, but to tell the truth I didn't notice what was next to them since I had to ask where they were. I do know that they were low to the floor and I never would have seen them there. They do seem to be pretty neat and I do hope that they work. This was at a Super Wal-Mart if that helps anyone. We had looked at a small Wal-Mart yesterday and didn't find them at all and I don't think that it is that we missed them there since we went around and around looking for them. There are hard crystals in the back section of the tube of material and when you soak it in cool water for 3-5 minutes it swells up round and then you pat it dry with a towel (you wouldn't have too, it just prevents dripping) and then you simply use the two ends to tie it in a knot around your neck. It will fit a child, but not as tightly as an adult, but it would still be cooling I think. HTH :)

Thanks for the tip! I looked for them at Wal-Mart but was looking in the accessory dept. I will head to our local Super Wal-Mart this weekend and check out the camping/sporting goods section.

Mr. Cool himself (I made a joke and did not even mean to :rotfl: Get it? Mr. "Cool" ), Dan Murphy had one one last Thursday at AK, He said he thought it helped.
My DH was intrigued and he bought me one yesterday. Haven't tried it yet but if it is good enough for Dan it is good enough for me. ;)

here is what QVC calls them

Item Number F8091 Set of 6 "Cool Downz" Water Activated Cooling Wraps

If you go to QVC.com you can search for that name and see what they look like when they are flat / dehydrated.

What great timing! My mom was just asking about these today, and we were only able to find ones to order online, which won't help since we leave next week ( :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: ). I'll let her know that Walmart carries them. Thanks guys!!

My DD uses them at football games (she is a dancer) and she says that they help some. She mostly finds them cumbersome though. However, that may be because of her age, and not liking the way it looks on her. (Boys are very important to her right now :scared1: )

I used them on our Disney trip last year (yep, I got them at Wal-Mart) in August. I thought they helped...up to a point. In a dry heat, they would be wonderful. But since I was literally drenched from the humidity every day by about 10 a.m., I found that at some point they just made me feel wetter and stickier. I even dumped ice in the sink when I soaked mine to make it as cold as possible. I would take it off for a while, and when I put it back on it would feel wonderful...for about a half hour. Then it would just start to make me hotter, so I would take it off. It also chafed my neck after a while. But in the hell that is a Florida summer, anything that gives relief for even 5 minutes is certainly worth trying...especially when it's something small, light weight and cheap!

I got mine at DTD in December. They have Mickey's on them! I think they were about $3-4 each.

I bought myself one of the Cool Wraps they sell at WDW several years ago...love it...I'd soak it, then put it in an ice bucket in the room.

When I moved to Fla ahead of my family last year, I stayed at Mom's...and used that Cool Wrap to survive Florida July with no A/C in my car. She was intreged, and I bought four of them for her to use at her pancake breakfasts.

A few weeks ago, stepdad tells me he uses theirs as heat packs now. Soaks it as directed, then zaps it in the microwave forr 30-45 seconds.

So it's not just for cooling off!

These sound great. I think I saw them on QVC once. I'm heading to Walmart tomorrow to find some for our trip.

I have one that I haven't used yet. I have used a regular bandana with ice wrapped up in it in Aug in WDW. That worked really well, but was messy as the ice melted..... I am hoping that the gel bandana works as well without the dripping........

I bought three of them in differnt colors/designs for our trip last August. Dh refused to wear one, but I liked mine. It stayed cool for quite awhile. I soaked it at night and then put it in our fridge. Very cool in the morning!!! Dd finally wore hers and said she was glad she finally did. They'll be going in the bags in 15 days!!
