Just Bought our first Class C, now I need to go to the Fort!

We finally broke down and bought our first Class C. We had a pop-up for about 5 years, took a camping break for a bit, and now are going back full force with a Class C. Our son just made a new travel soccer team that will have us traveling every other weekend to different states, so we figured now was the time to go all in and get the Class C. So, besides these pesky soccer trips, I need to plan a trip to the FORT!

I don't see 2018 dates online, I guess I have to call? What sites are the best for a C with slides (31' long camper)? What newbie fort stuff do I need to know? Can you point me to the threads I should read? I'm so excited, I just had to post! Squeeee!!!

Oh yeah, we have a regular Disney trip already planned for November. We plan to go scope out the Fort then, too. Can I wait until then to book for summer '18 or is that a bad idea?

Jessica,

Congrats on the RV! If you're going to be on the road for travel soccer like that, a Class C makes a lot of sense.

2018 Dates aren't in the reservation tool yet until the next year's rates are set and released which will be in the next two months. But yes, you can call and make a 2018 reservation now on the phone at this year's rates and those rates will be updated when the new pricing is released.

As far was where you will fit, it's mostly a matter of location. Of the 4 categories, you can make a reservation in three of them (Full, Preferred, Premium). I am leaving out the Tent category since I assume you want a sewer hook up. But Full loops are 1600-1900 and 2100 (less expensive of the three) but more away from things. Premiums are the biggest and widest and most expensive. You don't NEED one of those unless you want the location it provides. Those are loops 400-1400. In the middle are Preferred loops - about the same size as Full but down by the lake so you can easily walk to the boat to ride to MK.

By all means, check out the Fort on your next visit to WDW and congrats again!

Hmmm... You are going in November already... Have you considered trying to switch your reservations for the Fort then? The Fort is AWESOME that time of year because the Decorations (by other campers) are kicking in to high gear for the Christmas Holidays. (maybe Early November will be winding down the Halloween decorations too.)

Congrats on the New Class C. We have a Travel Trailer and I'd love to get a C or an A, but it's just not in the budget right now. Maybe in another 5 years or so when some of the other bills are paid and the older kid is moved out on her own.

Congrats! We moved from A frame pop up to travel trailer to our C. We love it! Great call for travel soccer, that will be great! There's a class C Facebook group and a great class C forum at RV.net if you feel like you want to join other class C'ers. The link in my sig is our Christmas trip to the Fort, in case you want to have a look at that. Of course, lots and lots of Fort info right here on this forum...not sure where to point you to start, just poke around and click into the threads that look of interest!

I looked on the site and it looks like the Fort is all booked then. Is it worth trying to call? It would be awesome to test her out right away, that's for sure. Hmmm...

Oh cool! I hadn't thought of FB groups yet! I'll look for those. Is there a particular group that you like? I'll check out your trip report, too. Thanks! We almost went to a TT after the popup, but we didn't own a tow vehicle, so the cost of a trailer AND tow vehicle would have been more than a C, so we made the big leap!

Is it worth calling??? You bet.... It's also worth checking back FREQUENTLY too.

Since you have reservations already, it's easy to cancel one if you get another (i.e. cancel your first one and switch to the Fort). Depending on things are working, you may have to wait for your original deposit to be mailed back to you, but they are pretty quick with that too.

People are constantly changing their plans so the likelihood of a date opening up is good. You just need to be ready to grab it. :)

Here's the group I like, pretty active! https://www.facebook.com/groups/ClassC.RVing/?ref=group_header

Another great resource is RV.net, there's a class C forum there that is great for technical conversation.

Awesome -- joined the FB group

Will do. Current ressie is actually off property at a time share, so it isn't even through Disney and can easily be changed. Thanks!
