I am so jealous. Flying out of Toronto is so expensive.

How much are the taxes? Ours are crazy.

hiiiiiiiiii, your close enough to drive to buffalo to fly out only 2hours from waterloo, depending on when your flight you can go direct on jet blue or southwest to orlando for as low as 79 dollars plus taxes but taxes are nothing compared to canadian taxes.

I'd also suggest taking a look at flying out of Buffalo. It's what we do and I figure it saves us at least a $1,000 each time we do it as we're a family of 4.

I agree with flying out of Buffalo!

I compared rates at WestJet and Air Canada, and they were 1800+ and 2100+!!

We booked JetBlue round-trip out of Buffalo for $637 US.

Even with driving there and airport parking for the week it so worth it money-wise!! We even added on a hotel night the day before and after flights and are still saving $800!

We're direct from Calgary to Orlando May 8-15th... so direct continues even then, but less often (but Saturdays are still direct)

We got it for $98 each way! WOOOHOOO! (Delta was around the same price with taxes, but 2 stops! Much prefer direct!)

Just got to watch for the seat sales! We check the website every morning when we are planning a trip! We are going back in December, so I will be watching for when winter seat sales start up and keeping an eye for the deals! We normally find a sale for between $80-$110/way when we do this.

You done good!:banana::banana:

I just hope I can get the same sort of price for our planned November trip.

As for flying out of a US airport, I am so totally jealous! For us Albertans we have no major US city within reach. Flying out of Billings or Great Falls (both of which are a looonnnng day's drive away for us) won't save you a thing. Prices are often higher, in fact.:confused3

Anyway, have a great trip DLG22!!:)

I have been looking at buffalo. However we are planning on flying in February. I am worried about the drive from here to Buffalo if the snow flys. This year would have been fine. I am 45 minutes from the TO airport and my last trip to Disney we left the morning of a snow storm. It took us 3 hours to get to the airport and we left at 4 am, so there was no traffic on the roads at all.

So I am a little worried about it.

I have been looking at flying Jet blue if we do fly out of Buffalo as you can get reserved seating. We are a family of 6 with 3 small children.

Any other thoughts?

We live 45 min from airport. We fly either jet blue or southwest. We prefer jet blue, great leg room and tv sets at each seat, and reserved seats. If your worried about the weather, we usually check long range forecast. If it looks like it may be stormy we book hotel room the night before, leave car there and they drive us to airport cost included in hotel fee. Without dinner included we paid 110 for the room that included leaving car and transportation to airport and back. As im typing this i cant remember name of hotel its an italian family name. They have restaurant too. Buffalo can handle the snow better than toronto. Plus once over there you have gone thru us customs. Most times we arrive about 1 hour to 2 hours ahead. Airport security is rarely busy there. Most times we just drive over the peace bridge leave car at airport they pick you up and your in the terminal very fast. It costs 57 dollars a week. We just did that last week.

If we're flying down next May (2011) when should we start watching for seat sales?

Go onto Westjet and Air Canada's websites and sign up for there email and they send out when they have their sales. I would wait till early next year unless you get a really good deal.

And beyond that--poke around periodically too. Sometimes AC and WJ have seat sales that are not announced..I booked some return flights last month to Florida (FLL and MCO) for less than $250 pp incl taxes!!:thumbsup2

What are the taxes in your airport? To fly out of TO it is $159 + $240. tax ea round trip. That is acutally pretty cheap compared to last year. This if for July-Aug
