Just booked the GETAWAY rate at DL for late June

Everyone here is wayyyyyyy smarter than I am. ;) I'm going to think about splitting our stay. I have a room reserved for 48 hours and then I have to put a deposit on it. Decisions, decisions!

As for saving money...it's mostly the airfare that's killing me right now--so far the cheapest I can get from home is $2500 for the 4 of us. Or maybe that's just what airfare costs these days! I can drive 4 hours to the US and get a flight for $1400, but then we need to stay at a hotel on the way there (flight leaves at 8 am) and way home (flight arrives at 11) and that just seems exhausting!

I keep looking at the pictures...I love the resort in general, but for whatever reason the kids suite at Hojo almost looks more appealing to me--cleaner and more crisp. But, maybe that's just the pictures?

As for dates...if we go again (which is the plan in 2012 to do the new Cars Land if it's open) then it will be the same time. I'm a teacher so can only go spring break, summer or Christmas (we won't go at Christmas because we'd miss the snow!).

So...am going to consider splitting our time between 2 hotels. I'm not sure I can convince my husband that packing up and moving would be worth it, but I'm going to think about it...and if nothing else I have a kids suite at Hojo for 6 nights and am happy with that!

:)

Thanks again to everyone on here...it's nice thinking my thoughts out loud!

We tried the split stay a few years back and will never do that again. It was a big hassle to move. With 4 kids between 8-12 at that time it was not worth the grief.

Jack...

That was my husband's comment--is it worth the hassle?

He has told me that it's up to me...either all 6 nights at DLH or all 6 at Hojos. We had planned on getting the kids the big playstructure from Costco next week ($1200) and he says we'll just put it off a year if we decide to stay at DLH.

So...am thinking about it!

:)

Okay, I've gotten a completely different message from the Disneyland operator I spoke to this morning.

She told me I could only get this discount with a package (including parkhopper tickets for all of us). As we already have annual passports, this didn't work for us. She even put me on hold to speak to someone else who verified this. How frustrating! Has anyone else had luck today booking this for hotel only?

Tried room-only and found the discount on DLH for my dates in late August. Then tried adding tickets, and it gave me the 5 nights for the price of 3 package deal! Offer info says it's good thru the end of September. Do not yet see this offer posted on the disneyland site.

I just tried a test to book online the hotel only offer I did book online yesterday. Specifically I looked at two nights at the GCH July 29-31.

The same offer was still there for the GCH.

However...

o Yesterday the offer said "Getaway" and today it says "Summer Room Offer".

o Yesterday the PPH and DLH appeared too and today the PPH did not appear (maybe it is full now on these nights?) and the DLH has a higher nightly rate than GCH!

o Yesterday the DLR website would not allow me to add July 28 and gave me the "resort not found" error when I tried July 28-31. (I was to able to call DLR directly and change my online res to include July 28 at the discounted rate). Today it does allow me to choose July 28-31 but it gives me the full non-discounted rate with no "Summer Room Offer".

What does this mean?

It means that the special rates that came online on yesterday, March 15 seem to be evolving and may or may not still be available today depending on which dates you choose and whether you book hotel only or a package that includes park tickets.

Some of the dates in your range may still be discounted (like my July 29-31) but will not show a discount at all if you make the range bigger (like when I changed it to July 28-31). If you are not getting the discount you may be able to get a discount on some of your days if you make the range smaller and book separate reservations.

I wish everyone the best in getting a better deal. But act fast!pixiedust:

Yesterday a CM told us to wait until today to book because of some new deal. She didn't have details but it looks like this is what it was.

Like Hydro's search GCH was cheaper then DLH when doing the Hotel only option. GCH hotel+tickets is cheaper to buy them separately, for DLH it is cheaper to buy the package.

Hotel Only - Summer Room Offer
6 Nights
GCH - $1,400
DLH - $1,720

Hotel plus tickets
6 nights - 5 day park hopper
GCH - $2,441
DLH - $2,001
Residence Inn Maingate - $1,437

This was listed on the Special Offer link for the hotel+tickets. They also had a neighbor hotel listed in the deals with the same special offer link

Based on the selected number of nights, your price includes 2 hotel nights free, plus 2 additional days on your Park Hopper® ticket.

Offer is valid for bookings from March 16, 2010 through September 1, 2010 and for arrivals from May 1, 2010 through September 26, 2010 with travel being completed by October 1, 2010.

My travel agent was able to get the Getaway Rate for us for July 29th thru Aug 1st (3 nights) as a room only at PP. We also booked the 5 night 3/2 package deal from July 24th thru the 29th also at PP. Originally we were staying at HoJos. In the grand scheme of things, it isn't going to end up being all that much more ($500 or so) than our HoJos reservation. Definitely worth it to me!

Like CABryan says, the Vacation Packages for the summer seem to be an extension of the 5/3 special through the end of September. This was what I got for pricing things out for a mid-September trip (9/18-9/22) for a family of 3 + 1 infant:

HOTEL ONLY (4 night stay (9/19-9/22) not incl taxes)
DLH: $707 (Summer Room Offer)
PPH: $686 (Summer Room Offer)
GCH: $1,470 (Summer Room Offer NOT available)

VACATION PACKAGE (same 4 nights with 4 day Parkhoppers for 2 adults and 1 child, + vacation insurance (which can be removed for $119)
DLH: $1,497
PPH: $1,479
GCH: $2,240

VACATION PACKAGE (adding 1 extra night with 5 day Parkhopper for 2 adults and 1 child + vacation insurance (which can be removed for $119)
DLH: $1,470
PPH: $1,277
GCH: $1,742

They're also offering special Park Hopper ticket only deals of buy 5 for the price of 3 (as well as buy 6 for the price of 4). For use from May 1 to September 29. The price of an adult 5 day parkhopper is $184 ($154 for ages 3-9).

Thanks everyone. I was able to change mine to include a complete package and save $. The CM I spoke with did not have this deal showing up in her system. She said it probably won't pull up for 24 hrs.

Thanks, I had not seen that yet. :)

I was just able to book a package under the extension of the "Buy Three Get Two Days Free."

We are 2A 1C. Checking in June 22.

Previously, we were booked for a package including four nights at the DLH and 3 day hoppers. Price: $2088.50

My three day hoppers were upgraded to five day hoppers and we have five nights in the DLH. Price: $1706.5

Bottom Line: We saved $382 and got an extra night at the DLH and 2 more days on our hoppers.

The deposit for the package was $200.

Plus we kept all the package benefits.

Thank you so much OP for alerting us to these discounts!

Great deal on the 5 night PH's. Just checked pricing for when we are there in August,GCH, SR, 6 nights, 1584.00, upgrade to a park view it says it is 864.00 more, but when you change the offer to do this it says 2016.00..
its math is wrong, it should be 2449.00. It also says for the DTD view you are to add another 2148.00????

So you tell me. After you get the final price, you add about 20% for fee's taxes etc.

The offer I got yesterday was better than this one...

I was quoted $1495 for 6 nights at DLH with no passes.

So...if I search the same dates now, same room, but with tickets then it comes up as $2400 at DLH...which is $900 more and....now I'm confused!!

LOL.

Alternately, I can keep my $961 (with taxes) Hojo kids suite rate and buy passes (about $700) and I'm still a lot cheaper than DLH.

So...still confused!

;)

Erin, when I saw the low rate for GCH I had to get it ASAP because I was afraid it would go away. It sounds like for you and some others it has. If the DLH deal has increased you will want to stick with Hojo's IMO. To me it is one of those things where it looked to good to be true and an instant decision was needed. So I made it. Best of luck!

Thanks...am on hold with Disney...we'll see what they say--she says she can't find it now and is trying to get her supervisor to help her find it.

I just booked 7 days at the DLH in Aug on this :) My rate is $1700 (including taxes). I was booked at the Park Vue Inn Kitchen suite @ 1200 but this is MUCH BETTER! Thank you Disser's. :thumbsup2

Now my only question is should I go for the view room instead?
