:cool1: Well, it is final. It is official! After many months of waiting, watching, reading and researching (most done on this board), we have finally booked our first ever family trip to Disney World!! We will be going from 1/13/07-1/20/07. We are staying at the All Stars Movies, and we are just so so so excited!!
It will be me, my DH, my son Ryan 12, Son Jordan 9 and Daughter Olivia 6.
I can't believe we are actually going! After I booked, I wanted January to be here, like - TOMORROW!! LOL!!

Any tips or recommendations for a first-timer family is greatly appreciated! I already feel so much more knowledgable then most because of this site, and I purchased the passporter and also have been watching the Disney DVD.....

I want to get a My Pal Mickey, and I am just trying to figure a meal budget and things like that.....but, most of all, I just want to have fun!!

HURRAY!!!!!!!! DISNEY HERE I COME!!!! :rotfl: :moped: :woohoo:

Just wanted to be the first to warn you :thumbsup2 Here's to wishing you all the VERY BEST trip you can have!!! It is truly a magical place and since you are staying onsite it is VERY easy to forget the outside world and become enveloped in the experience. Continue to do your planning and make the most of it and let us all know if we can offer suggestions! :cool1:

Here's to hoping you have a Magical Trip!!!! :cool1:

Did you add the Dining Plan? If you did, make all your ADR's.

HAVE A BLAST!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yeah! :thumbsup2 Congrats to you! Now is the fun part of planning your days, making your ADRs and counting the days!

Good news is January really isn't that far away! When we booked our upcoming December trip it was February and seemed SOOOOO far away! Now 70 days from this very moment we will be wrapping up our dinner at Chef Mickey!

Happy planning and these boards are a wonderful way to pass the time while you wait! :surfweb:

Obviously if you have been researching on these boards, then you are getting familiar with WDW. My most recommended suggestion would be to plan what you can do comfortably and not overdue and run yourselves into the ground. Enjoy the experience and take away positive experiences. If you over plan then it becomes a burden/ hassle. Everyone becomes exhausted and the total experience is not pleasant.

Congratulations! We are also taking our first trip in January! I can't wait :)
I just signed up for TourGuideMike and there is a January forum over there that I've been meaning to check out.
Anyway, congrats on booking!

I am so excited for you. I can't wait until I can say the same. Until then, have fun planning. January will be here before you know it.

we just got back from our first trip and are planning our second and we were there last week. we are in our 40,s and the first day we walked into magic
kingdom and was standing on main street looking down towards the castle it was a feeling that we never had before and it was a tear in the eye feeling so
i wish you the best on your trip and a little advice take your time and enjoy where you are you will have a lot better time then if you rush.we did this and we got on all the rides and seen all the shows we wanted to see and we never let are selfs get run down. so once again i wish you the best :sunny:

Congratulations on booking your first trip. It is truly a magical place and I cannot wait to go back (it's been 17 yrs) and to be able to experience it through my childrens' eyes. Watch out for this site though---it's addicting!

You will love it at Disney. Check out DVC while you are there.

Congrats on the first trip!!! :cool1:
I hope you have a magical experience!!

Congratulations and welcome to the Dis. My standard advice to first timers is to please, please, please do not try to do "commando visit". Trying to run from attraction to attraction at top speed especially with kids is often a recipe for disaster. It's almost impossible to do every thing in one trip, since you've been doing your research let every one pick what they think will be their favorites and every thing else will be gravy.
Hey it will give you a great excuse to immediately start planning your second trip!

Not sure what DVC is?????

THANKS EVERYONE for my well wishes!! I am just teary eyed thinking about it! I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous and over the top! I am not usually a very emotional person to begin with, but, this Disney trip means alot to me personally. Last year both of my parents died, and I was left with my three little ones not having there awesome grandparents:(

It was a long terrible year, and this year was also long just learning to live without my Mom and Dad........

Every time I think about the day I walk onto Disney property, I just cry and am flooded with emotions! Again, I know it sounds silly!

But, I am so happy for our family that we are going to be doing something FUN! And not going to funerals, or cemetary's or looking at old pictures of loved ones we lost!!! (my little girl was just 5 when her grannie left us:(
DISNEY IS JUST THE CHICKEN SOUP WE NEED!!!!!!!!

Thanks again for the well wishes!
Chris

You will see the DVC kiosks at most resorts and places around the WDW property. Don't be afraid to stop and talk with them if you have an opportunity. They are not high pressure sales people.

I'm so sorry for the loss of both of your parents. That's hard to cope with. It is quite OK IMO to get emotional when thinking about standing there on Main Street and tearing up. Everytime I picture it, I tear up as well. So -there, we're both normal!

Last night, I finally saw the new commercial for DW on TV. I started tearing up watching that as well and the excitement that my boys are going to have.
