Ok I just booked OKW Studio for AUG 14-19th, still have to book a resort for two more weekend nights. I have never been to OKW, can someone please describe the atmosphere and some points of interest. possibly what I should request, water view , building etc. Thanks everyone :cool1:

I'm sure you'll love OKW! We've stayed there several times. It really feels like "Florida" to me -- lots of palms and pastels! ;)

We've stayed in several of the buildings and not minded any of them. I know some people haven't enjoyed being backed up to the main road, but we didn't notice any traffic noise (possibly because we live 5 houses off of a major road and are used to it, LOL!).

It's always nice to be either a) right on the golf course or b) in a unit that's right next to one of the quiet pools. I'm thinking Deb Wills might possibly have a map on her site (allears.net) so you could have a look at the "neighborhoods".

HTH a little -- enjoy your trip! :)

I did the same a few weeks ago. It was about the only place I hadn't stayed at WDW other than SSR, so I was a little leery. Well, I LOVED IT!

I had a room near the main building, but others report liking being further away. At checkin they offered me a water or golfcourse view. There are some rooms with a limited view ie they look at the side of another building. I overlooked a pond and it was great.

You can see some of Illuminations at night on the bridge over the water at the main building, and I saw some of Wishes from the walkway outside my room.

It was rather empty when I was there, so I can't comment on how they handle crowds. Olivia's was good for breakfast, but I haven't eaten other meals there.

Everything else was very good - definitely worth a return visit!

Thanks for your replies DiznEeyore and Bavaria. Im really looking forward to staying at a DVC resort. Does it have the DTD boat like POFQ? Again thanks everyone for the replies. I just looked at some pictures of the resort and it looks neat.

We stayed there for the first time in Jan. and had a wonderful time! I only requested NS and top floor. We were put in bldg. 18 I think; I liked it a lot because we could easily walk to HH and the main pool. We were also top floor (3rd) which gave us a fireworks view at night, I also liked that it was quieter (no one above us). We could see another quiet pool to the right and a bit of a golf course lake to the far left, along with trees. The only caveat about my request is that there was no elevator in that bldg.---dh complained a tiny bit, but overall we pack pretty lightly and our kids are big enough to help carry things. I would take the convenience to HH over the non-elevator in the future.

You might check out the DVC board---there is a lot of info over there as well.

Yes, they have a boat! I didn't take it this time tho.

I did find being on the 2nd floor a little noisy, but that may just have been the people upstairs. They came home one night while I was watching Wishes, and I almost blurted out - oh, you're the elephants upstairs!!

(Probably whoever was below me thought the same of me!!) Seriously, I don't know if it's the buildings or the people, but it was noisy for about 20 minutes before they went to bed each night, and again in the morning....

THERE! with my edit this post should sound more like I intended! :teeth:

POUND POUND POUND for 20 minutes every morning and evening. Now there's some people that realize WDW is the most romantic place on earth! :earseek:

OH I did NOT mean that thank you very much!

Now I'll have to go edit the post...

Good thing that I DIDN'T mention the pounding to them!!!

DH and I stayed in a studio at OKW December 2004 we loved it. Great location and quiet. It so relaxing would stay there again anytime. Would love to by a small contract for the 11 month out rule. Currently we have a SSR contract.

OKW is our home resort and we love it there. It's generally very calming and relaxing. The Hospitality House area is nice, we like the breakfasts at Olivia's, and the transportation seems to be okay. The one place I would recommend NOT to request is near a bus stop. I had a studio right behind a bus stop a couple of years ago and it was noisey until late at night and started back up around 6:30 the next morning.

Other than that - we love OKW.
