Just booked my next solo trip! Some questions!

Just booked my next solo trip May 7-16.

This time I will be staying at my first moderate resort and at the Coronado Springs, coming in from California.

How would those that have gone solo rate CSR?

I will also have the quick service dining plan again, my last trip I discovered Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney, and for a quick service, that place had some amazing food!

For those that are veterans (as I am a Disneyland native, and WDW novice still), what are some good quick service locations where you will get the most bang for your dining plan buck?

Also if anyone will be down in the area I am always open to meeting some new DIS'ers as I am fairly new to the boards.

Hi, I did once have a solo stay at CSR. It's a convention hotel and has a fitness center. Very large property so it's great if you like to do a lot of walking. Nice theming that looks much like Arizona. Solos fit in well because there are also many conventionEARS travelling solo!

I haven't done any of the Disney dining plans, but of the WDW quick-serve restaurants I've tried, my favorites are Flame Tree Barbecue and Tangierine Café. There are many QS places I haven't tried yet, so others may be able to tell you some of their favorites, as well.

Yes, I am looking forward to the hopefully a bit more laid back feel of CSR and being able to lounge out at one of the quiet pools one afternoon.

Looking forward to enjoying the parks, but also having a bit of a more relaxing and less commando type trip this time around.

My daughter and I did the QS dining plan a couple of years ago, and even that was a lot of food - some of our favourites for quantity and great choices were Starring Rolls Cafe at HS (great/huge sandwiches and cupcakes for dessert), Pecos Bill's at MK, Pizzafari at AK, and Sunshine Seasons at Epcot - they all had nice areas to sit, and we always took leftovers back to our room.

Enjoy your solo trip - I went on one twice in the past, and loved every minute.

Great tips! Maybe I'll have a chance to try at least one of these on my next trip this fall. Thanks also to the OP for mentioning that Wolfgang Puck Express is really good. That would also be fun to try sometime.

I just booked a solo trip for May, despite having another one booked for November (yikes) I love my solo trips, this will be my 7th time solo in May and I love it, you can do WDW at your own pace (I actually did DL solo November last year for the first time, doing it again next year fingers crossed) As an AP holder I can't get the DDP here in the UK (it has to be a hotel/ticket package to qualify) but, I have done it in the past and loved it.
As far as QS goes I love The Earl of Sandwich, don't worry about the queues, they move
quickly, Wolfgang Puck Express is good too, but, the have the air con on too high for my taste, but, that'll be more welcome in May than in November/December.
Try a bit of resort hopping for meals too, even the GF, Poly and Contemporary have QS restaurants, you can have Tonga Toast in Captain Cooks at the Poly, it is my last day tradition to have that before hitting MK one last time before having to go to the airport, they accept QSDP credits there too.
Top tip, have a ton of fun.

Good quick service with the most bang for your buck:
I LOVE Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom...it's my favorite counter service next to Wolfgang Puck Express. It's a change from the regular burger and frieds. I get the Tuna and it's SO GOOD! (and I'm tuna picky)
Also in MK, Cosmic Ray's has the half a chicken that is very good. Last time it also came with ribs.

In DHS, we like Studio Catering Company. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is huge! As are the other sandwiches there. And oftentimes they have a special holiday cupcake available as dessert and they are huge!

In Epcot, the Tangierine Cafe in Morocco has a shawarma platter that is HUGE. My husband loves it here. And the food is tasty.

DD & I stayed at CSR last November and loved it!! The resort was nice and quiet aside from being downright beautiful!! My avitar pic was taken there! The food court is a hot mess and more confusing than its worth but the lounge was nice. The rooms were clean and spacious, we had only stayed at values before so the upgrade to a moderate was well worth it.

As for quick services, I love Pecos Bill in MK, and Flame tree BBQ in AK was also a great value. Epcot is a wash for me since I love almost everything there. As others have mentioned Wolfgang Pucks in DD is amazing! And HS is my least fav park so no comment there.

I did a solo trip last May and stayed at CSR business class. I loved it! It was my first time at CSR and while there were plenty of women walking around in high heels and full make-up (there was a Chico's conference going on) it didn't impact the buses at all.

A beautiful resort and the staff in the BS lounge were all very friendly. Have a great time!

I am really looking forward to this trip.

I really love Sunshine Seasons, the food there is amazing. I am looking forward to trying Tonga Toast this time, I have heard only great things about it, so a trip to the Poly may be in the works.

I am hoping that the Seven Dwarves Mine Train opens and I have a chance to go on that, really been anticipating it!

I stayed at CSR non-solo once (all adults). We didn't like it as much as POFQ in terms of a moderate. It's a pretty large resort, so if you're placed in an outlying building, it's going to be quite a hike back and forth to the main building. We didn't care for the quality of the dining options at the resort, and the bus service to the Parks was the worst we've ever experienced at any resort. The place just didn't gel with our touring style.

Having said that, it is a really beautiful place, and the pool is one of the best on property, in my opinion. There are plenty of places around the large, central lake to sit and relax, and when I was there, there were hammocks scattered about for you to enjoy. Since you're looking to enjoy a more relaxed trip, I think you might like CSR more than we did!

As for QS places in the Parks, here are some of my favs

MK:
Columbia Harbor House....LOVE this place...the veggie/hummus sandwich is delicious. Head upstairs and sit by the windows to look out on the park.

Pecos Bill has some pretty good burgers, and if burgers aren't really your thing, or you're really hungry and want something extra, you can make a good salad from the fixins bar!

DHS:
Starring Rolls for sandwiches

Fairfax Fare for their mac n' cheese hot dog...some people don't care for it, but I think it's to die for haha

AK:
Flame Tree Barbecue

Yak & Yeti Cafe (to the right of the TS restaurant of the same name) portions are huge

Epcot:
Tangierine Cafe - the best QS place in all of WDW if you ask me

Sunshine Seasons has a nice variety of options

I love the food at the Mara at Animal Kingdom Lodge - and you can get the famous Zebra Domes for your dessert! If you have an Animal Kingdom day planned you could go there for an early dinner (as the park usually closes early) then take a bus and park-hop elsewhere. It's also a lovely resort to wander around. I also love Katsura Grill in Epcot because of the green tea ice cream!

While at DHS, take the boat shuttle over to the Boardwalk and go to the Boardwalk Bakery for a Lobster roll. Best bang for your buck.

AK - flame tree

MK - BOG but get in line at 10:30 if you don't do a FP

Epcot - so many choices but I really like Tangierine Cafe in Morroco

So next question,

I am thinking of also doing one or more tours this time, I have already done the UnDiscovered Future World, at Epcot. Last time I wanted to do the Keys to The Kingdom tour but it was sold out, so trying for that.

Any other tours that were really memorable, and would be good for a solo trip?
