I am so excited. I just booked my trip. I have been to WDW many times but this is the first time we will be staying on Property. I convinced my GF to go for this.

We are staying March 4 - March 11 at POP. I can't even wait :) I have wanted to stay on property for my whole life The best thing is. We arrive at WDW at about 9am on day 1 and dont leave until about 8pm on the last day. It's almost like 2 additional days there :). I also booked the Magic Your Way Dining Plan. That should work out great too and we will plan to order the more expensive dinner so we really get our moneys worth :)

What does everyone think of the POP? I have read good things here but I have also read a couple people's comments about how they weren't fully satisfied. I think those might have been isolated incidents though. I have booked a preferred location room there. I was going to try to stay at POFQ or POR but I didn't want to spend the extra 300 bucks. I am treating my GF too. She doesn't have to pay a dime. Is there a hot tub at the POP? I imagine that it gets overloaded by kids though.

Another question. We would like to take some time and go around to the other resorts and look around. Is that allowed? If they dont like people doing that, would you recommed making priority seating at resorts that we wish to look at so we can get in there?

I also wanted to say that I have been doing a lot of research and come to this board a lot. Everyone here is so nice and always has great advice for everyone. Thank you so much.

Edit:
Thank you everyone for your help. I just had another question. Are you able to charge things to your room account. I dont like to carry a lot of cash around and I would like to keep everything together. When you are out shopping and dining, can you charge things to your room instead of paying up front for them. Thanks

Welcome! I haven't stayed at POP so I can't speak about that, but I have heard very good things about it. We did check it out last time we were there and it looks very nice. Bright and big! My son thinks it looks awesome. He's 16. We have stayed at ASMovies and we liked that. I can however tell you that we visit different resorts all the time! That's one of the best parts of our trips, resort hopping! One time we did the monorail resorts and had breakfast at Kona Cafe. It's not required, we just wanted to try some of the Tonga Toast everyone raves about. That was awesome too! I think we've checked out all the resorts during our visits, except for Ft. Wilderness. We like to visit the resorts and see what they have to offer. That's also how we decide if we want to stay there next. We are going to go back to Wilderness Lodge on our next trip in May. We're staying at Beach Club Villas but my son wants to stay at Wilderness and I'm not sure if I want to. So, we'll visit so I can make up my mind.
Have lots of fun, your GF is lucky to have you!

Sorry, no hot tub at POP. We stayed in October and thought that it was just fine. The food court has a great selection and the rooms were small but comfortable. Hope you have a great trip!

I think you will be fine at POP since there are only two of you. If you want to check out other resorts, you might want to check out the Monorail resorts if it gets crowded at MK.

You can also take the bus to AKL from AK and then take a bus from there to another park and then get back to your resort.

Just remember, you can spend a lot of time in the resorts while you're checking them out so plan accordingly.

Have a great trip! :cool1:

First let me say welcome. We stayed at Pop last Jan. and are going back again in April. We use to stay at the deluxes but I we both wanted to check out Pop last year and now we're converted. You'll love the place, as far as a few bad reviews go I wouldn't worry about it. Remember there are over 2000 rooms at Pop and if they just book 75% that's a lot of people staying there. Your bound to get a bad review once in a while. Disney loves when you go check out their other hotels. As far as getting to them that's another problem. If you're taking Disney transportation you can get to the ones on the monorail pretty easy, the others would be by bus. Or you can walk to three at Epcot. Have fun :firefight

Wow, how sweet of you to treat your girlfriend!!! I know both of you will have a terrific time! I think you will enjoy POP, but no... it doesn't have a hot tub... only the moderates and deluxes do. Don't know if that would be worth another $300 to you, or not.

Certainly you may visit the other resorts... that is one of my favorite things to do. They will give you a parking pass when you arrive to put in the window of you car. This will get you free parking at the parks, as well as access to the parking lots of the other resorts. Some that I highly recommend seeing are Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian and the Yacht and Beach Club (especially the pool out back!) Including these with some of your dinners will help you schedule things so you will have more time to do things you want to do!

Have a wonderful trip, takes lots of pictures, goof off with the characters and be happy! :flower:

With an excited positive attitude, you'll love it! I have not stayed at Pop but have stayed at other resorts and love to resort hop. I enjoy looking at some of the other resorts and dreaming! I love to check out the Poly. AKL is a great stop too.

have a great trip!

Stayed at POP Jan 5th-11th for first time. Have stayed at other values before this.

What I liked: The price of course, the theming, rooms were clean, employees helpful and friendly, curtains that overlap to block out morning light, thermostat that lights up so you can see it in the middle of the night(trivial I know, but it was nice)

What I didn't like: the noise from the toilets, they were SO LOUD, like a jet engine loud!; the pool is open till midnight , which means people will be out there screaming and yelling till midnight, which is bad for those whose rooms face the pool(mine);
the fact that "Preferred" rooms aren't that much closer to everything, especially the parking lot; windows in room don't open, would've liked to let some of that warm Florida air in the room at night.

We've stayed at value's every time we've gone, and I think I may splurge next time and go for a moderate. Not that POP's bad, and I would tell people to stay there, just would like to see what I'm missing at mods/delx's.

How could I have forgotten the beds? They were like sleeping on the ground they were so hard. Guess they figure you'll be too tired from being at the parks all day to notice.

Thank you everyone for your help so far. Any more opinions would be greatly appreciated too. I have another question. Are you able to charge things to your room account. I dont like to carry a lot of cash around and I would like to keep everything together. When you are out shopping and dining, can you charge things to your room instead of paying up front for them. Yes you can charge almost everything to your room. You give them a credit card when you check in and you then have charging priviledges that are tacked right on your room key/resort id. You should still carry a small amount of cash as there are some kiosk's/food stands that don't take a room charge, but they are few and far between (e.g. the snow cone stand at Japan takes cash only).

Another wonderful benefit to staying on property is the ability to send items that you buy back to your resort where you pick them up. You don't have to carry them around with you all day. When you buy something, just tell the CM you want the package shipped back to your resort. You fill out your name, resort, phone number and a couple other things and pick the package up the next day at your resort. The only day you can't do that is the day before you check out.
