I just booked my hotel for the March mini-meet. It's a pretty busy weekend at DL and the usual hotels were either booked solid or very expensive. Fairfield Inn? Booked solid. Howard Johnson Plaza? Booked solid. Candy Cane Inn? $125 per night ! The Disney hotels were also very expensive. Expedia's buy 4 days get one free rates brought Paradise Pier down to $141-$161 per night, Disneyland Hotel was $175 then went up to $198 per night and the Grand Californian was $212 per night. Hmmm ...

I was torn. Should I book onsite or should I use Priceline. Then I finally got the $10 bonus link from PL and that made up my mind. I knew that jpgolds got the Hilton on PL for $50 for the same time period. So ... I used my bonus link to PL and bid $37+$10 for a total of $47.

I'll miss staying onsite. I'll miss being able to walk to DL from one of the closer hotels.

BUT ... My total for 4 nights including taxes is $182.15! That's just about the price of one night at PPH :).

Great deal, Robin. I think it's going to be a really fun weekend.

I am staying at the Residence Inn. I don't know how far it is, but I am driving, and getting a PAP (that's a pass, not the other FUN thing!) so I can park over at the DL lot. Rachel is rooming with me on Saturday. Don't know what time seh is getting there on Saturday AM, but we will all have to figure out a meeting place and time for that morning.

Oh Rachel..................

I really hate the DL parking lot. I hate driving into it, I hate parking miles and miles away (at least it seems that way) from the trams and then I hate the long tram ride to the parks. I stayed at the Hilton Suites last time and while it was only a 10-15 minute drive to the parking lot, but it turned out to be at least a 30 minute trip to/from the park gates. IMO, the DL parking lot makes the TTC in WDW look like a marvel in speed. I'll be using the Hilton's shuttle I think :).

I can't remember about how far the parking lot and garage was from the parks, but I don't think my little hotel has a shuttle. I'll find out soon.

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Robin! Great deal! I am glad to know that my post (stating that I got the Hilton for $50 for the same time) was able to help you! Have a great trip!

How did you get the $10 bonus?? I plan on bidding priceline for my trip in April and a $10 bonus would be great!.

Priceline was emailing people a special one-time $10 bonus link that expired yesterday. You needed to have the "Send me Priceline Offers" checked when you made a previous bid.

Make sure you check out www.biddingfortravel.com before bidding!

The Hilton is now required to participate in the Anaheim Resort Transit system, which is terrible! The cost is $2/day and the shuttle goes to 3 hotels. (Coast, Hilton, Marriott) during the week if it is slow it only runs every 40 minutes - be sure to plan accordingly. It will also shut down for at least an hour during lunch. You can get the cards at the desk when you check in.

Just a few days ago my waits were 93 minutes (didn't know about the lunch shut down) and then 38 minutes on a Friday night! The walk isn't that bad, I will be doing that from now on.

Oh man ! That figures. How long would you say the walk is? We'll be pushing a stroller :).

The walk is probably about 1/2 mile, about 10 minutes. You can cut across the Hiltons parking garage and the disney lot.

I'm back out there for a week this Saturday, but I'm staying at the Grand Californian this trip thanks to some cast member friends! Thank heavens I won't have to deal with the stupid shuttle.

Per a Hilton friend of mine - if you have problems, complain to the hotel and they will cover it with the transit people at weekly meetings.
