Just booked HHI for 3 nites after the Masters

We were just notified we won a raffle for The Masters Monday practice round at Augusta next April. I just booked a HHI 1 bdrm for the next 3 nights afterward.

I know its about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Augusta to HHI and we plan to drive down Monday evening.

Does anyone have any experience with doing this? We also plan to play golf at HHI and have heard it can be tough getting tee times since there is a PGA tournament there right after the Masters.

The Heritage tournament has been moved to 2 weeks after the Masters. Some trouble with finding a sponsor, etc. I'm not sure if this is written in stone. . .

HH is trying to secure new sponsorship and the date for 2011 has been moved back one week. Here is some information about the change from the Savannah Examiner site - Examiner.com


"The Heritage and the PGA TOUR announced earlier that an agreement has been reached to hold the Heritage Golf Tournament on April 18-24, 2011 at Harbour Town Golf Links.

The Heritage will be played the week of April 18-24, 2011, one week later than the traditional April date. The change is due to a PGA TOUR scheduling issue and the fact that there is one extra week between The Masters and The Players Championship. According to the PGA TOUR, the change is for one year only.

With the date change, the 2011 Heritage will share the tournament week with the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf in nearby Savannah, offering great golf action for fans in both locations."

You should be fine with tee times the week after the Masters.

This may explain why there was no availability the week of April 17th when some of us tried to book at exactly seven months. Was weird people could get the week after Easter (could not get that this past year), but not the week before. Burned here now two years in a row for our April break!

OMG-DH would be so envious! And I'm envious anytime anyone gets to go to HHI. I don't even know when in April the Master's is. Near Easter? That's when we'll be there. Regarding golf at HHI, DH has finally played every course open to the public at HHI. I'm at WDW now, but next week, I'll get all kinds of info from him about the courses there. Have you played any? Any particular you want to know about? If I forget, feel free to give me a nudge (PM).

Thank you so much for your offer Simba's Mom. I will take you up on it since DH and I haven't played at HHI and would love to hear your opinions. DH is a 13 handicap and I'm a 16.

Yes, shucks! I have my DS's family at Vero. After reading the above, I'm asking them if they want me to book more nights at Vero, and just forget about going to HH this year. I have them for cash on the Saturday, so I suppose they could stop there on the way to VB from MA. Would that be a reasonable place to spend a night en route to VB?
