So excited for our second trip this year for the Fort! We were down in late April for a 4 night stay and our very first trip. Needless to say, we were hooked! This trip will be a 6 night stay, Sunday-Saturday. Really looking forward to seeing all the Christmas decorations. We will be tent camping and hoping for 1500 loop :)

Any advice on how weather will differ from late April? It was just starting to get a tad muggy on our last trip, and some others had commented that the week was warmer than usual for that time of year.

We also only did 2 park days this time and are planning on a 7-day ticket with PH this time. Possibly even doing the Christmas party one night.

Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement!!

We like that time of year. We will ALSO be there that week this year. We actually check in on Thanksgiving Day and will be leaving the second Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The weather is probably comparable to April. I will say that you need to be prepared for the Cold (but not typically frigid) to the very warm. We had some days we could swim and other days we definitely needed sweatshirts (sometimes coats too).

We have done the MVMCP a couple of times. Once in 2012 and loved it. It wasn't too bad as far as crowd goes. We had tickets for the MVMCP for 2 different nights on our 2014 trip and we were not happy with it. For a "Limited Ticket Sales" event, I could tell how the limited it except to say the limit was whatever the park capacity was. It was just as crowded at this "Limited" event as it was on any other day (during that season). This time around, we are likely going to skip the MVMCP. For the cost you pay, you get a special parade, some special photo ops (of characters not normally seen such as the 7 dwarfs), cookies and cocoa. You have to fight a crowd to find a good spot for the parade, long lines for photos, only select rides (and restaurants) open, and if you want your cookies/cocoa, you have to fight a crowd for that. Then for you efforts you get (barely) a 6 ounce cup of cocoa and a sugar cookie (or 2). For the money you pay, I just don't think it's worth it. My DW might want to do it again, and if she does, I will of course go, but I would be just as happy to skip it.

The decorations are great and you need to take some time in the Fort to go around and check them all out. Some folks don't do any (or very little) and some will go way overboard. It's amazing what kind of decorations folks come up with.

I hope you have an awesome time, and maybe we'll see you there!

You're right - doesn't take much to get hooked, does it??

We've been there more than once in April and that same week in Dec.
What the weather will be like definitely depends on the year! We find it the usual to be muggy in April with frequent showers, also hot! Being from south LA, that is the normal, but definitely worse as the summer comes.

As for 1st part of Dec. it can go either way. We were there Dec. 2010 and nearly 'froze'. High 20's at night, mid 40's and windy during day - not the usual, but definitely does happen! There was 'ice' and slippery on the docks!!

Just be prepared with warm bedding and electric heaters and warm/cool clothing. It can change fast, and not always predictable from a few days out.

Three years ago when we were there at that time weather could not have been better. Lower humidity temps during the day upper 70's to low 80's, nights were cooler 60's sweatshirts worked wonders. I have there at that time in the past and found while a poncho was good to have I rarely ever needed it but there were days when a sweatshirt and or a light jacket was something I was glad to have on hand as well
