Just booked Enchantment OTS! With questions...

DH wanted to do a cruise post-WDW marathon weekend next year. The Dream priced out at $1342 rotfl:) and Enchantment OTS priced out at $670.

No brainer. I could take TWO cruises for the price of one!

We have only sailed DCL. I know soda is not included. I don't drink soda, so it doesn't bother me. DH does drink soda. Am I correct in thinking that DH can book the soda package, and I don't have to book one for me? What is the break even point on soda? We have a stop at Cococay, is soda on the island included with the soda package?

Is the Windjammer open all day or just at breakfast, lunch and dinner like I have read? Also, is there anywhere to grab food between lunch and dinner? DH wanted to do late traditional dining. Is food on the island included in the cruise fare?

We are cruising with some marathon friends, so intend to link our reservations. Is there a limit to how many people can sit at one table in the MDR?

Is there a dress up night like on the 4 night DCL cruises?

I think it's 3 sodas a day to break even for the adult soda package and 2 per day to break even on the kids soda package.

Ok, let me see what I can answer for you....

Yes, your DH can get a soda package even if you don't. As Arkum said, 3 sodas a day will break even. It does include soda on coco cay, but make sure you tell whoever's getting your drink on the island that you do not want a souvenir cup (otherwise they will charge you for the cup). food on coco cay is also included in your fare.

windjammer is open for the 3 main meals, and on some ships for a "tea time" snack mid-afternoon. i haven't been on enchantment so i'm not sure if she does the snack. if windjammer is closed, the ship should have a cafe lattetudes or a promenade cafe to get snacks. like disney, you can also get room service all day, though there's a small charge ($3 or $4) between midnight and early morning (i think maybe 5 a.m.). the largest dining room table is usually 12 guests. i don't know what length cruise you're going on, but if it's a short one (3 - 5 nights) there will usually be one formal night; 7-night cruises have two formal nights.

sorry i can't answer any enchantment-specific questions, but hopefully this at least gives you a general idea.

We've been on the Enchantment before... It's an older ship. We didn't get the soda package on that cruise and I learned then...so we did get it on our next RCCL cruise. The problem was that it wasn't that easy to find beverages (the flavored water) when the Windjammer was closed. You could get sodas using the soda package at any bar....

We did figure out that we could order ice tea through room service, but that took a long time.

Snacks were much harder to come by on RCCL (especially this ship since there is no promenade) than the DCL ships where you can snack all day by the pools if you want. On the Enchantment, you had to bring food out from the Windjammer and when it closed, that was that. There was pizza by the solarium pool at night and a drink station---but the hours were somewhat limited.

We took dressy clothes and most people did dress up for the first formal night. I think there was a 2nd, but we didn't do much for that one. Also, there was a 70's party that people seemed to bring clothes for....we didn't.

Great tip! Thanks Woody. DH is a snacker so having food available at all times is a must. Can we bring a packet of cookies on board with us? Do they have things other than pizza at the solarium or will they make a personal pizza? DH has a tomato allergy.

I think we will order the soda package for DH.

We leave a week from Monday. If I remember too come back here I will, but if not feel free to PM me This is our very first cruise though so we wont have anything to compare to.

I will just say we considered a DCL with the same itinerary and it was double the price. I love the parks but dont care about characters etc so we chose RCCL. We know Enchantment is on the small side but figured since it's our first time it will be fine.

Our kids are 9 and 14 so we bought the premium drink package so they could really have whatever they want (frozen non-alcoholic included) and I could get coffee. I dont drink so this package seems like it will work for me. We will find out !!

There were always food potions when the windjammer is closed. In your agenda thingy you get everyday, all the restaurants should be listed as well as the times they are open.

Ok, back from a great time!! The soda package is a free style machine and there are over 80 options including about a dozen Dasani flavored water flavors~ironically it does not include plain....

We came back from Nassau at about 3ish and DD and I ate in the windjammer. It wasnt fully open but the salad bar and fruit and snacks were. After we ate, it closed until dinner. There are sweet snacks at the Lattetudes coffee shop for free or Ben and Jerry's ice cream for a charge, or a soft serve ice cream machine for free. I think there were snacks at one other place too, by the windjammer but we never needed it.

The bar is open on Coco Cay from the time you arrive. You can use your soda package there. You dont have to have your cup, your card will have a sticker on it. Lunch started at noon-large outdoor buffet, burgers, hotdogs, ribs, salads, fruits, desserts. Lots of beach chairs, there were 2 ships there when we were there but on the far side of the island it was still empty. We did the stingray encounter and LOVED it.

Formal night on the 2nd night. Food was good. Not spectacular but very good. I gained 2 pounds (I had just lost 14 so I was semi-concious of it). Frozen non-alcoholics were good and I have several lattes and an accidental frappachino.

All in all we were very pleased. We loved the trip and would do it again in a heartbeat. ALL of the staff were superb!! Nothing less than what you would expect at Disney. Im a chatter though so I talked to many and had lots of interesting conversations!

Feel free to pm me if you have other questions and I will do my best to answer them. I have some photos but dont know how to post them. It does seem like an older ship but everything was always clean and I was impressed by the amount of staff there were giving you hand sanitizer (LOVE this!!)

This is an excellent review! Thank you. Our trip on EOS in January actually was LESS than half of the cost of DCL.

I enjoyed the review. We are sailing on EOS in August. This will be our first on RCCL (we've only said DCL in the past). I'm trying to learn as much as I can before we sail and this definitely helps.
