Just booked a *very* Forward room......your thoughts?

Hi...we just booked a room at the very front of the ship it seems.
There may be one room in front of us. It's on an upper deck.
I realize weather has a lot to do with this but on average, for those who have sailed Forward, it would be nice to hear your thoughts.

I'd love to hear your experience with this. Do you feel a lot of motion or chop?

I've had a room at the very rear of the ship and that was horrible. Never again.

Personally, I enjoy being rocked to sleep. But I grew up sleeping in the foremost cabin aboard sailing ships, so it’s basically “home” for me. My wife doesn’t like it so much.

What was horrible about the very rear of the ship?

Was is the motion? If so, I'm thinking the front could be worse.

Yes, we felt a lot of motion on the back of the ship.
I'm not prone to getting seasick but after a few days it affected me.

Motion or vibration did you feel aft? I prefer forward to aft. We have been all the way forward on the Dream/Fantasy several times in 8006, 8504, 7006, 7504 and 8502.

We have been pretty far forward on the Magic several times as well. I felt more motion on the Magic/Wonder than the Dream/Fantasy forward. But then again I don't mind motion at all. I did not like the engine vibration I felt aft on all the ships.

We have been all the way forward on the Wonder (2500) and on the Dream (8006). We felt it much more on the Wonder but that may have been because it was an Alaskan Cruise. On the Dream we didn't really notice it at all.

I much prefer to be forward. I love the motion!! (Granted, if I got seasick I would not even be cruising - I don't want to have to be doped up on meds to enjoy a vacation.)

Cruised several times about 10 or 11 cabins from the front on deck 7 Dream and Fantasy. We like it. Quiet. Didn't notice any extra movement.

Been in stateroom 2000 on Wonder, so as forward as you can get and yes, definitely felt more motion. Some days weren’t too bad but some were not enjoyable all and I wouldn’t do it again

It makes more sense that the front of the ship gets more motion. It is the first to hit the waves, even with the stabilizers, you still get some motion. They say that the center of the ship and lower down has the least motion. We always stay by the aft elevators. We love the location and never had an issue with excessive noise or motion. If you are very sensitive to motion, I would not stay all the way forward, stay toward the middle of the ship.

I love to be forward- we have been on an Eastern (Magic) and in Alaska (Wonder). If you don't mind the motion or are prone to being sea sick, it is a quiet, fun and great place to have a cabin.

We did a 3 night on the Dream in March of 2020 (Yep...just squeaked it in) and definitely felt more motion in our forward room. I struggled a bit with it, but my medicine took care of it. It actually felt pretty good to be rocked to sleep.

I have been on two large cruise ships and took medication the entire time. I have done three small boat cruises and took very limited medication but did get very ill one evening in the San Juan Islands. For me it seems to make no difference where I am. Rocking motion just gets to me. I medicate for flying and do not do certain rides. Parents say I was alwasy the one that would be sick in the car. No doubt, I remember but medication helps so much and I travel well with it. My point, it depends sometimes on the person and how susceptible they are to motion..

My thought is that if you weren't comfortable with the motion in the aft, you won't be comfortable with it forward. I feel like there's a bit more motion forwards because you're cutting through the waves while sailing. You'll also have the thruster vibrations when pulling into port.

We've only cruised on Disney and only five times - 1 on Magic and 4 on Dream. Our first cruise was mid-ships ocean view because I was told that people with motion sickness should be in the middle of the ship. We felt no motion. Our next 4 cruises were aft. We love aft. I do start taking 24H meds a day before the cruise but the ships are so smooth I sometimes forget to keep taking the meds towards the end of the cruise. We feel a lot of vibration but the only motion we felt was the Magic aft leaving New York. We've been on floors 5, 6, and 7 with verandas, as we decided we don't like the ocean view. We're scheduled for March '22 and I wanted to try forward but the better half loves aft too much so he picked an aft room.

We cruised the Wonder in cabin 7000 - all the way at the front. The motion didn't bother us but it was an Alaskan cruise and I don't think there was much motion to begin with. However, we were the last cabin, next to where some of the officer's cabins were. It was quite noisy from their rooms (loud television and conversations) and the heavy door slamming to get into their part of the corridor. For that reason I would not select that cabin area again.

We were at the very front of the ship for our first (and only) cruise. We did experience a couple of storms, but the experience had me longing for dry land often.

Without Going into what dates, cruise etc. What ship did you book on?

We sailed Forward on the Fantasy (7502) and absolutely LOVED it. The porthole looks out the front of the ship. The room was oversized and wonderful. The bed was actually sideways which was awesome because we were rocked to sleep every night. I wouldn't hesitate to book that room again.

Now, when we sailed forward on the Magic (Right by the Forward Elevators), I was not as big of a fan.

In my mind, it depends on the ship, the people and the weather/seas of course
