Just Booked 2BR Savannah for May @ Kidani

So excited...DH and I were talking about the need to use some points last night at dinner. We've been wanting to stay at AKL because DD 10 is an animal geek. So, I poked around the boards about whether a 2BR at Jambo or 2BR at Kidani was best. As us usual I got some <very> good advice by looking at some AKL threads, and read about the challenges of SV at Jambo 2BR. So, now we are set for April 28 to May 3 -- WAHOO!!!!

Anyone have any don't misses that I should plan for or consider at AKL? Safari recommendations?

My only recommendation is to really explore the resort and take as much advantage of the pool area as you can. Although we were at the edge of the Savannah (all the way by the pool area) there were enough animals roaming around to make my children happy.

My only complaint was that the counter-service restaurant is in Jambo, which is further away than it looks on the maps. Since we were on the meal plan, it was not exactly convenient to grab a quick bit to eat.

Congrats on getting what you wanted! We were in a 2-bed savanah view back in August. LOVED IT! My kids are bugging to go back to AKV!

Although we didn't request it, we mangaged to be just down the hall from the lobby and close to the elevator to the parking garage and pool. Even though it's not guaranteed, you can try to request being close to the lobby. It wouldn't be a complete disappointment (hey we are at Disney right?) to be all the way around, but now I'm spoiled having been so close!

My recommendation would be to request Sunset Savanna, 2nd floor close to the lobby. The Sunset Savanna is the larger savanna and has the giraffes and zebras. If you are on the 2nd floor, you will be eye level with the giraffes. Being close to the lobby is nice if you plan on using bus transportation. Have fun on your trip!
