Okay all you FW experienced campers, What do I need to know about staying at FW to make our 1st ever FW stay special & memorable (in a good way)? :cheer2:We're coming in for 5 days in March 2012. Me, DH, & DS-18. I've visited FW before & even rented a golf cart to tool around in for a few hours last October. It was fun seeing all the Halloween decorations, talking to a few campers & amazed & how some of them came in early October & were staying all the way into the new year. How cool is that? :cool1:

The best way to have a great time is forget the world outside and don't over plan so as not to have time to relax and enjoy the Fort.

We are planning on just enjoying the Fort. We might go to a Water Park but we do not plan on going to any of the 4 major parks. Trip is early grad present for our 18 yo ds. 5 nights at the Fort then 5 nights on the Disney Dream. :woohoo: 1sts for both the Dream & the Fort.

The 'trick' to enjoying the Fort, if you want to call it that, is to just RELAX!!!
Don't plan every minute. 'Fly by the seat of your pants' so to speak.
If you want to go to a park, go.
If you want to go shopping,go.
Spend the day fishing, or just enjoy your campsite.
Or do nothing at all.
It is a beautiful, relaxing place. Take advantage of your surroundings.

My advice, buy everything you will need before coming to the fort. The camp store is very expensive.

There are several Super Walmarts and grocery stores in the area.

Have fun.
Kathy

Thanks for the suggestions! :thumbsup2 What is the one thing you must do every visit @ FW?

Sitting on the beach with the kids playing on the sand around me, drinking hot chocolate (okay, that's not so great in the summer!!) and watching the fireworks. Sitting back and relaxing as the music to Hallowishes surrounds me and realizing that THIS is my most magical moment and why I will always call The Fort my home.
My first visit to WDW made me a Fort Fanatic! You'll LOVE IT.

sittin on the rocking chairs at crocketts tavern, just relaxing, and listening to everything~the music, the sound of the disney boats coming and going happy families and tired ones too. So that when I get home I can remember it exactly.

Hmmmm drinking hot chocolate in March will probably be quite nice. Not sure what Hallowishes is but I see Fireworks on the beach is a must do! :thumbsup2

That does sound so relaxing - thanks for the tips. I'm definitely adding them to my list.

Thank you for the special encouragement!! Can't wait I know it's going to be special. :cool1: This month DH & I get to go to Disneyland resort & staying at the Grand Californian Villas for the 1st time. After that we get to see one of our other sons graduate from Marines Boot Camp in San Diego. :thumbsup2

We'll be there in just 4 weeks for our first stay at the Fort. Some great ideas have already been shared & if anyone else has something they'd like to add I'd love to hear it! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time - it's a beautiful campground. There's no other one that I'll pay the site prices for, like the Fort :scared1: Don't really count on enjoying hot chocolate on the porch in March :confused3 It can be nice and it can be hot and humid like summer :lmao: But, I do  the summers. I do not like the cold  I live too far north in NC. LOL

I ride the boat. The last time we were there after we got set up we took a ride around the lake.
I also like the electrical water pagent

Im very excited to hear that you can see the fireworks from the beach at Fort. We are also planning our first trip to WDW. Hope you have a great trip!!

The Hoop-De-Doo review. This is a given on any trip to the Fort.

Enjoy!

Already booked! :thumbsup2 I've seen it before, but DH & DS have not. I think they're in for a real treat & I think it will be more special because we're staying right there at the Fort. :goodvibes
