Well we just returned and thought I would share some of our observations. We left on Thursday evening and we usually drive and when we do fly we fly Orange County but me always trying to save a buck flew into LAX. NEVER AGAIN. It was late at night and I forgot the rental agencies are off site. We had to lug our stuff to the curb and then stand in a long line to get our car. Then we got turned around and everyone was cranky and a little lost but we FINALLY got in the right direction and made it to our hotel. We have tried several of the hotels on Harbor and decided on the Del Sol this time. I had heard reviews on here and other places but was NOT impressed. The room was small and not in good repair and although they knew we had 5 we did not have enough towels and only 1 roll of TP. Of course we ran out and they never brought replacement towels. They gave us a rollaway but really the room is not big enough. It was VERY cramped. I would not recommend this.

It IS just a bed but there are definitely better places along that strip. Anyway then my daughter had an earache and my dh had to drive around at 1 a.m. and we learned there are very few 24 hour drug stores anywhere near the resort. But he did find some meds and needless to say none of us got much sleep.

We didn't get up quite as early as we had wanted and weren't first in line by any means next morning. We did our normal routine or fast passes and rides and tried to do things we don't normally do. We had lunch at the stage door and finally saw the Billy Hill show which we very much enjoyed. We encountered many broke down rides including Indy this trip. With the park as crowded as it was it made it even worse with so many things on rehab and broke. We left the park around 4:30 after also doing the flag retreat which my dh who was in the military had wanted to attend. We had dinner at Denny's and got the kids dressed and then attended the party. We got tons of candy and lots of great pics with characters. We didn't take the time to ride rides as the girls costumes made it difficult and we were too busy getting pics and doing other things. It was nice that they offered healthy treats and had the crafts. We were all quite tired and sat for almost an hour waiting for the parade but then it was very dissapointing. Only one small float and a few characters. Disney World's version is much better but we did enjoy ourselves and met some nice cast members.

On Saturday we spent all day at DCA and got lots of Great Villian photos and even though the Golden Screams got awful reviews I wanted to judge for myself and yes it was corney but the kids enjoyed it and the best part was my daughter shelby won the trophy which is VERY nice I must say!

This is her with the host and Hades, who the audience had voted to win, and of course her trophy.

Anyway we also did the totem ceremony which we had never done and then had dinner at Storytellers which is our fav place.

Then Sunday it was back to Disneyland all day and we met up with our buddy Phillip at the Canoes who again set us up with some passes and between those and our fast passes we were set. This night we got stuck on Buzz and had to walk out of the ride and space also broke down. We encountered this a lot. We also saw Pam Anderson and her new hubby that day as well. So it was an exciting day all the way round. That night we at at Rancho Zocal and rode Thunder Mountain in the dark which is always fun and listened to the Mariachi band. It was very festive. We also enjoyed Woody's roundup and let the girls decorate cookies which they enjoy. I love this part of the park and it is very festive!

Monday we packed our things and Shane had to park the car at the garage which I think is lame that the Del Sol won't let you leave it there but whatever. Then we went in to DCA and did Soarin and Tower and then hopped back over to DL to try the Jedi show but were unable to do it because of the rain so then went back to DCA and rode Screamin, Tower and Monsters Inc before we had to head to the airport.

All in all despite the rain and the dissapointment of the hotel it was a nice trip!

Oh and I finally rode Nemo and it was definitely worth it and for those with claustrophobia I say go for it. I have terrible claustrophobia and I handled it!

Now I can start getting excited about our Christmas trip! :)

Great report! Glad you had a nice trip despite the crowds and the frequent ride breakdowns. That's cool that your daughter won the Screams contest. Wow, and you get to go back for the Holiday festivities too. That's AWESOME!:cool1:

Okay, I have to ask, who is Phillip?

(My hubby wants to ask where the picture of Pamela Anderson is, but just ignore him. )

Wow, what a great experience and thanks for all the details! Hotel sounds pretty stingy between towels, TP, and parking! What is the totem ceremony? We've never done that!

I'm glad you had a nice time despite all the potential annoyances!

"although they knew we had 5 we did not have enough towels" You just reminded me...we only had 3, and PP didn't have enough towels. :confused3 And there was a used washcloth in the basket. (me thinks someone had the room for a few minutes then switched, and no one checked it out before renting it to us)

Del Sol woudln't let you keep your car there after check out? Even...oh wait, we never actually *asked* HoJo if we could keep our car there...we just sort of...did. :rolleyes1

Well Phillip is a castmember that happened to also be an ex marine reservist. My dh was an army reservist that served in Iraq and he had his Iraqi Freedom hat on and he and my dh struck up a convo back in July and they hit it off so Phillip gave him some passes. (shhh I am not sure we are supposed to let that out of the bag) but anyway we saw him again this trip and he gave us a few more. They also exchanged e-mails. You know military buddies kind of things.

And I knew the Pam thing would come up LOL.

She was being VERY evasive and we saw her come off Space Mountain and I had the camera so dh came running up to me and so I gave him the camera and said here if you want a pick YOU run after her. So he did and he made the mistake of yelling her name but that made her hide her face and run away even more. This was the best pic we got but as you see it is a side view and not that great. The guy in the red T-shirt is her new hubby Rick Saloman and you can kind of see the kid next to him with the long hair is one of her sons. She had some body guards with her and of course they always have a Disney tour guide with them.

Let's just say that her life of partying did NOT do her any justice. MAJOR cellulite and wrinkles on that gal. WHOA!!!

The Totem ceremony is in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. If you look on a guidemap it will tell you. It is kind of cute. It is with Koda and Kenai from Brother bear. They do a cute little ceremony and then the kids can get their pics taken with the bears. Plus that whole area is really fun for the kids to play in. I had never wanted to take the time but last summer they went and played in there while my mom and I sat and took a break and they loved it.

And yes I was NOT impressed with the Del Sol. We got 2 washclothes and 2 hand towels and 4 bath towels for 5 people. Then they said if we wanted to re-use our towels to hang them up or to put them on the ground for new ones. Well they took them away and didn't put new ones back. So when we came back at night we had NONE!! And one roll of TP and then if you ran out in the middle of the night you had NONE! My husband went to the office and it took 20 minutes to get a new roll! :sad2:

WOW, she doesn't look good does she?? Just look at her thighs, you can see the cellulite. Yikes, if my legs looked like that I would not wear shorts! LOL Capris yes, shorts no.

Sounds like you guys had fun!! I'm glad! And tell your DH Thank YOU for the service he's done for our country!! From my family to yours!! We appreciate all that you do for us!

It's funny that you went in July, in October and again in December, we went in July, are going next weekend and again in December! LOL Us crazy Californians and our love of Disney. LOL

Lol - thanks for the ceremony info! We've been in the area but never took the time or got a description from anyone - seeing as how we're obsessed with bears in this house as well as princesses, guess I'll put that on the list!

Okay, I personally am still jealous of Pam...lol...

Finally - thank your husband from this household as well - and Philip too when you see him next!

No in fact I wasn't sure it was her because she didn't have any makeup on and her face was REALLY wrinkled. I think she tans WAY too much. But I recognized her barb wire tatoo LOL. Plus she was wearing white shorts and a white tank top with no bra with those giant ****s of hers. NOT flattering. She just did NOT look good at all. It was kind of sad really. She looked really "tore back" as my dh would say LOL.

And thank you for my dh. He appreciates that!! We finally went to the flag retreat ceremony as well which was nice.

And yes we are crazy LOL. We have AP's so we try to go as much as we can. July was our summer trip and this trip was to see the halloween stuff and to do Mickey's Halloween treat and Dec was totally unplanned, last minute and guess what we are going back in Feb too LOL. But then we aren't going back for a LOOONG time, but hey we are going to Disney world next nov!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Glad to be able to pass that info on. We had never really thought about it either and I was glad to do something new. It is def something cute to do at least once.

And thank you for remembering my dh and Phillip as well. Apparently he has done 2 tours in Iraq as well. That is how he and my dh got to talking. He asked him where he was over there and they had been in some of the same places. He is a really nice kid and if you ever ride the canoes you should say hi to him. He is a great guy!

If we ride the canoes this trip I'll be sure to say HI to him and mention where I heard of him. :)

We bought AP's in July too, we've never had them before so we thought we'd try it out. We do have passes to 6 Flags but DL is so much more fun! We are planning on going again in Feb, April and May or June and July again. LOL I may even take DBF in Jan. for HIS birthday! LOL We also had a last minute trip 2 weekends ago, we drove down Saturday night and went to the parks on Sunday, drove home Sunday night! LOL We had fun but we were tired!!!! LOL

Just don't mention the passes. I don't know if that is supposed to be known ;) info!!

We were at Golden Screams when your DD won. She was very cute and did such a good job talking in front of the large crowd.

Your secret is safe with us! We won't mention a word about it.:ssst:

(But don't worry too much. I think it's very cool he shared a little magic with a fellow veteran and his family. There's nothing wrong with that in my book.:thumbsup2 )

I just wish I had brought the video camera!! :sad2:

Thanks!! Yeah when I told dh I mentioned it on the boards he got all mad at me cuz he said I wasn't supposed to tell LOL. But I said you guys wouldn't say anything! :)

He was a really nice kid though and we really appreciated how nice he was to us.

I plan to write a letter to Guest services telling how great he is!!

No worries, I won't mention it at all!!! :) I'll just tell him he was mentioned on the Disboards and I wanted to Thank Him for his Service to our country and our freedom. :) Besides, I think it's really cool that he shared his Disney Magic with you guys, I wouldn't think he would get into trouble for that!!

I think it's really cool your DD won something! How fun....and you know, I never have the camera or the video camera at times like that either! LOL
