Just back from a short weekend trip. Stayed at the DL Hotel, and splurged for Premium AP's, figured we already saved over $20 with the 10% discount for food and in the stores.

Happy to answer any questions...

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>You missed the rain (it rained last night).

How was your trip, and if you could go back and do one thing, what would it be?

Overall our trip was great. I was a bit disappointed in the DL hotel, mainly because I thought the rooms were larger than they were. Our room was about the same size as our room at the Grand Ca. and much smaller than our rooms have been when we stayed at Paradise Pier. The walls were paper thin and we were woken up 2 of our 3 mornings by the kids in the next room. At night it was difficult to get to sleep becuase of the band at the Lost Bar that went from 8-midnight. I don't see how a family with kids would be able to get to sleep. It's a nice hotel but I didn't think it was any better than PP which is less $$$. I'm glad we stayed there once to try it, but I won't be in a hurry to return. You can't beat the location though!

As for food, we ate at Redd Rocket's, the Plaza (I love the pasta at both these places), Rainforest Cafe and Rancho del Zocalo and of course I got my fritters at New Orleans Square and tried them at the Jazz Kitchen - YUM, they are delicious. They throw a whole scoop of powdered sugar in there!!

If we could go back, I would have made some PS so we could have tried Goofy's Kitchen and Storytellers. I underestimated the crowds for Saturday and Sunday mornings and we couldn't get in for breakfast anywhere! We are so used to going in the off season that I forgot. :)

I can't wait to go back and use our AP's!

Which tower were you in at DLH--and do you know your room number? Just wondering...did you complain or try to be moved to another room?

Thanks,
Sue:)

We recently booked a 2br suite @ DLHotel for the week before Thanksgiving....do you know anything about them? Are we going to get music from the Lost Bar? Maybe we should pack earplugs just in case! ;)

We were in the Sierra Tower, room 2562 which is on the 7th floor with a pool view. We were right next to the elevator (we never heard the elevator, interestingly enough) and I think our room was smaller because of it. When we were leaving the hotel and housekeeping was cleaning some rooms, we'd glance inside and you could tell they were bigger, most had sofas, ours did not. Ours had 1 queen bed, 1 nightstand, desk and table with chair. Come to think of it, the one queen bed was wierd, usually its 2 queens or 1 king right (?).

No, we didn't complain, maybe because we were only there 3 nights and one of those nights we got back right around midnight, so it was ending. It is noticeable though, my husband sleeps like a rock and it even woke him up. It was more of an annoyance and we really wondered how a family with little kids that would go to bed early would do. I'm really surprised they would put a band right there at those hours and also, why do they need a band when there is so much going on at Downtown Disney right next door.

what were the crowds like? We were there in end of May and it was very crowded. Maybe I caught the beginning of Spring Break? Not sure if I want to go again until fall, I'm too spoiled with off season crowds.

Carolrie - it was moderately crowded on Friday and quite crowded by Saturday. The waits for the Matterhorn & Indiana Jones were 50 minutes on Saturday. We have gone in late April in the past, but this time went in mid-April and there is definetly a difference in crowd size.

... use your APs for room discounts?

And could I be as humble to ask what your room rate was?

We are looking to stay at Paradise Pier which we booked thru DC and would like some comparative rates.

Hi Legend, our trip was quite last minute (we booked Wednesday and arrived Thursday) which we normally don't do, so we didn't get any of the $129 or $99 Super Sunday rates. I got a nice CM on my second try who offered me the Southern California promo rate of $169/night for a pool view 7th-11th floor. Not the greatest deal, but the best we could do last minute.

I have paid as little as $89 at the Paradise Pier (although that was about 4 years ago) and as much as $210 during a busier time.
