The YC was at it's finest once again. We didn't care for the Poly at all!! Don't flame me, I spent 6 months reading opinions and I know there are those out there that love it....we just don't. HRH was fabulous----three days in the Graceland Suite. It doesn't get much better.

YCFAN, what did you think of HRH Concerierge. I have that booked for 2 nights in November and have been debating on whether to keep on downgrade to std.

My only experiences with Concierge had been YC and AKL. How does HRH compare?

Thanks, Sharon

Welcome home! Sounds like an awesome trip:teeth:
Will you be sharing photos of YC?
We spent three nights last 4th of July in the Graceland Suite. Now THAT is a suite (although DD had to sleep on the little couch in the bedroom):teeth: Did they bring you a welcome gift with the record with your family's name on it:crazy: We LOVED that place, although the Club Level Lounge left a bit to be desired...Do you agree?

The lounge at HRH doesn't compare to the YC in my opinion. Of course it's a different atmosphere, more hip and modern. I do like the fact that they have individual bottled water though. They don't have any food service during the day other than soft drinks, only in the morning and at night. It felt a lot more crowded than at YC but I really didn't have anything to complain about. Besides, we got a lot of amenities sent to the room because of the Graceland Suite. The first night we were there they delivered cheese, crackers, fruit, wine, bottled water. The second it was snacks, sodas, milk, cookies, water. They last night it was popcorn, snacks, water, soda, and a free in-room movie. They gave us the record album with just my oldest son's name on it. He liked it a lot. We had an adjoining room also so the bedding wasn't an issue. I'll write a full trip report later.

No flames from this Poly lover. I like that there are so many resorts to choose from and they are so different. I think just about anyone can find a resort they love. We don't all like the same things! I figured it out after staying at the Contemporary and not liking it at all! Many people love the Contemporary, but the Poly is for me!

I'm with you YCFAN - we first stayed at the YC earlier this month and now it is our resort of choice!

We also are not fans of the Poly but Im also glad we all do not like the same resorts!!:sunny:

I would love to see pics of the suite you stayed in at the HRH!!!

We also LOVE the Yacht club concierge!!!! I wish we could do concierge on this next trip !!:(

Well cant wait to hear your trip report!!!

Try this link for a photo of the Master Bedroom - it definitely does not do it justice, as the most impressive parts are the living/dining and bathroom. Yes, that is a brown, suede-like bedspread and a mink bolster...:earseek: :earseek:

I don't post my own photos but hopefully someone else will...

To the right you see a bit of the fireplace which is double-sided (into the mammoth shower). The views are also killer from this suite - the pool and the parks beyond...

I took a lot of pictures!! I'll post them later when I get a chance. $1600/night

$1600 (girl hits floor)-gald you had fun! Uh-oh, now I am worried. We love the YC (although technically we stayed at the BC) and now we are going to try the Poly. I did go there for dinner and LOVED the atmosphere -a bit busy maybe. What exactly didn't you like?

I also like going to dinner there. 'Ohana's is great and so is Kona Cafe. I don't like the rooms. They remind me of the Holiday Inn. I've always heard people talk about the darkness of the halls too. It's because everything's dark....I didn't like that either. The ceilings felt extremely low also. We stayed there 13 years ago and I remember nicely manicured tropical feeling lawns and foilage. This time it felt like a jungle, too overgrown. We were also in the last room on the hall and the carpet stopped at the room beside us. There was tile in front of our room and with good reason. Everytime we would go in or out of our room the outside door to the building would automatically open and when the wind was blowing while it was raining there would be water all over the floor in front of the room. There were ceiling tiles missing from the ceiling in the hall and this was in Hawaii building. The sofas in the lounge were worn and dirty. Going down to the beach was wonderful to see Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant but I'd go to another hotel on the monorail to see those from now on if I have to stay there. I also did not like going outside to get to the Great Ceremonial House for the restaurants because when it was raining there was no way to keep from getting wet. The bathrooms were awful!! Toilet, sink, tub all in one room. Only one sink. The towel bars didn't even come up as high as my hips and I'm only 5'3". Saw more than one or two spiders in the room and one huge spider dropped right in front of me in the hall from the vacant ceiling tile. I stepped on it and killed it and told the people in the concierge about it. It remained on the carpet in the hall for the next three days.

Are they still doing refurb work at the YC?

Yes they are doing siding work on the outside. The only time we noticed it though was as we were driving up we saw some scaffolding over to the left in the front of the building. Never a problem and never any noise. They blocked off the rooms that were affected.
