Just back with a "footwear in the Signature restaurants" report!

Sneakers are not against the WDW signature dress code.

But do you really think sneakers look okay in a nice resturant? I don't!
That's my opinion. I thought the point of going to a nicer resturant was to look a little nicer than you would in all the other restursnts. Not like you just came out of the park. They say dress Busineess casual. Not me I didn't say that.
Honstly I really could care less what the person wearing next to me.
I am in Disney and that's all I care about.

As far as I am concerned, if Disney is willing to allow them it doesn't matter if they look okay or not.

If they were against the dress code I'd have an objection but if Disney allows sneakers in their signature restaurants, they allow sneakers in their signature restaurants.

DH and I were at WDW 2 weeks ago on the DxDDP and had 7 "signature " meals. I can honestly say, I did not pay any attention to anyones else clothes or feet. That is not why we go to signature restaurants. We are foodies and winos, but do not try to make a fashion statement or play the role of fashion police.

I usually wore capris and a nice tank top ( ooopps, now I'm in trouble) and always wore sandals. DH usually wore a polo shirt or nice plain Tshirt with shorts and tennis shoes. We did not stick out like a sore thumb and I didn't hear any whispering behind my back, so hopefully when we bounceback next year on the DxDpp....we will be welcome....at least by the CMs if not my fellow diners!

. . . I cannot see myself wearing those rubber flip flops to a signature restaurant. Although I guess I tend to overdress!!! I enjoy dressing up when going out to a special dinner with the hubby.

1) I sure wish more people were like you !
2) When I go to a premier eatery, I want atmosphere-food-service.
3) People at WDW just do not know how to dress for signature restaurants.
4) And, it has gotten worse since DDP.
5) This is one of the reasons we visit only five TS eateries in Disney.
6) And, only two of them are owned by Disney.

I can't believe that people actually care what others are wearing on their feet. While yes it is a signature restaurant you are vacationing at theme parks and casual dress would be expected. I travel from Australia and have limited space for packing I am certainly not going to pack heels or flats specifically for a signature meal and nothing else. We do try to dress as best we can but I am definitely one of those wearing crocs or flip flops to restaurants.

Funny thread as we just went to Cali Grill last week. I think we all looked appropriate. DH was in biz casual but had tennis shoes on! He was not happy when we walked up and saw the sign about attire. I said to hIm they don't mention anything about shoes.

Guess what he wasn't the only one. Looking around there were many people dressed nice/biz casual with their tennis shoes on!

Believe me I will remember shoes for him next time!

It is kind of sad that people don't dress for dinner anymore....

Totally offtopic but I remember when flying on a plane was a big deal we ALWAYS dressed up!

It's nice to read that most people would not have been bothered by my flip-flops! I also did not realize that footwear was taken out of the dress code. We dined at 4 signatures in May and most men I saw had on sneakers (with khaki-type shorts and golf shirts).

Even the shoes I planned to wear were just leather ballet flats. I don't usually wear heels unless I go to a wedding or a funeral! I'm glad to know that sandals and sneakers are fine. My husband would wear sneakers every night at dinner if he could. If he could, he'd probably wear them to work too.

I think they should make it mandatory that if you do chose to wear sandals that show your toes..
that you should have a toe inspection and only let in..

B> If your toe nails are painted to accent your outfit.

I did have to wear Crocs to Cali and Jiko as I forgot to pack my nice shoes. I was a little nervous about it until I got there and saw all the other people in shorts/tees etc. I was surprised but to be honest, we were so totally focused on our own experience that beyond the initial "noticing" we never paid attention to anyone else.

This thread is quite entertaining and informative at the same time Who knew people were so passionette about other's footwear!

We (my mother (60), uncle (63), niece (13) and son (10) will be at WDW in Nov and have ressies at Cali Grill, and I've been a little worried about the dress code. I've only eaten there once before with my DH, and since it was our night out, I dressed in a nice pair of slacks and heeled dress sandals. However, this year with the increased cost of checking luggage, we're attempting to pack as little as possible, and was worried that I'd have to use valuable luggage space for a whole outfit and shoes for one dinner. But, from my reading, it sounds like we can fit in very easily with some nice shorts/skirt and yes! the dreaded flip-flops! I'm one of those people that feel that my $5 Old Navy flip-flops are the most comfortable shoes I own and I wear them all day at the parks! I've worn tennis shoes before, and they just honestly hurt my feet. I blame it on my wide feet.

Anyways, sorry to go on and on, but I just wanted to put in my 2C worth!

I wore flip flops at Yachtsman twice. Well, they were nice ones..but I also saw many people with rubber flip flops at signatures.
