Just Back - Where We Ate

Hello All -
Wanted to post a quick rundown of our Disney dining since we seemed to eat our way thru the World this trip and I have to go back on strict Atkins as of today!!!

Epcot - Lunch at Chefs de France - prix fixe lunch - creme Brulee recipe on its' way...

MGM - SciFi Drive-in - I concur with the posts of most othere Dis'er's - we were absolutely blown away by the setting but had mediocre food. Server was terrific and I just regarded the prices as having paid entirely for ambience!

- PrimeTime Cafe - FINALLY got here and witnessed DS(11) finish his green beans for the first time just to get dessert! Definitely not-to-be-missed for anyone who hasn't been here - and the food and the prices felt fair, except for the kids' electric ice cubes. "Mom" was fabulous and I asked her more than once to please come home with me! I had Pot roast and DSS(27) had fried chicken. He was impressed by the mashed potatoes with the skins til I told him they were still "fake".Also "Mom" confessed that she thought Mickey couldn't afford the Fiestaware for serving our dinner because of breakage - oh well!

- Don't get me started on the fact that Mama Melrose closed at 5:30 PM on Tuesday and 7:30 on Sunday - and also that H & V is clearly diverting all their walkins to PrimeTime - and rather rudely turning people away in good numbers - had this happen twice.

- Absolutely no need for the Fantasmic dinner packages offf season - I did this twice last year in August and October for Brown Derby and H & V and that was a good decision - but Tuesday nite we walked in 5 minutes before showtime and sat in the 4th row!


Contemporary -
No visit would be complete w/o a visit to Chef Mickey's - still great value and character interaction. Unfortunately we had a weird server and I did speak to the manager about upon leaving. Also noted that they use the leftover marinated mushrooms in the chcken-pasta dish - waaaay too much - and that the fruit flan has that same "creme brulee" filling I loved so much at Chefs de France. Atmosphere can be everything!!

Wilderness Lodge - where we stayed -
Whispering Canyon Cafe - our second visit - always lots of fun if that's your mood and style - I admire the servers' energy! Food was fine - we ordered the skillet this time and it was, by this time, all starting to taste the same!!!They've added a new Caramel Apple Pie which was very good.[

I think that's about it, unless I get into detail about Roaring Forks or Pinocchio Haus - anyone has any questions or comments please feel free - I am going to go make an Atkins "sandwich" now and hit the gym!

What a great post! I enjoy hearing about where everyone ate. Menu's are all well and good but you just can't beat personal experiences and thats what we get on this board.

I am thrilled to hear that Fantasmic packages were not needed. I am crossing my fingers and toes that that will still be the case when i visit soon.
My budget just wont stretch to $85 before tax and drinks! And thats the cheapest option.....id rather spend my $$ getting to visit Boma and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Oh and Crystal Palace and def Trails End.....ive been trying to fit that into my plan all week. Now its there.

What does the Prixe Fix Menu at Chefs de France get you. I did not know they even had one for lunch. Also what does it cost per person. Thanks

Hi Mike -

I was surprised to see this also, to tell you the truth - we hadn't even planned oneating there but the kids were starving and the ubiquitous chicken strips were there!

It was $14.95 and included onion soup,a Croque Monsieur(grilled ham, gruyere and tomato - supposedly on French toast - but this wasn't!) and Creme Brulee. The recipe for the creme brulee arrived today via e-mail if anyone's interested. I also had a glass of white house wine ($4.95).

If you're an AP, there's also a 10% discount at lunch, which I forgot!!

We did the lunch at France last December and that it was a great value - plenty to eat. Loved the French onion soup and creme brulee.

That sounds like a pretty good deal for lunch. I will defently have to go for lunch on our next trip. I love their Creme Brulee.
