Just Back - VWL

Just back from a great trip, weather could have been a little warmer, rained only one afternoon. Resort awsome. Clean and very well taken care of. Loved our room 3535. Only one HUGE complaint!! The resorts really need to enforce pool rules. I am not even sure what they are at this point. I was a little irritated as I rode a boat from the CR to VWL, we stopped at Fort Wilderness, about 25 people got on and it was obvious they were pool hopping. They talked about it, and said what they were doing. I said I was not sure what the rules were, but knew for fact the pool by the "villas" was only for DVC members and guests of the lodge.

I got back to my room and called the front desk and they said anyone can swim at any Disney pool as long as they are staying on property, except for AKL and Stormalong bay? Is that true? The weather was only nice one day, and man the pools were packed! Bikes were everywhere by the VWL pool, you had to stalk people to get a seat or chair!

Now I have nothing against campers, as I own a very nice pop-up my self! I do know one of the pools is being redone and maybe thats why so many were at the Lodge, but is this okay? I just feel were paying so much money to be there, there should be some rules on the pools so guests staying can enjoy also?

The main pool at the campground is currently being refurbished. Ft. Wilderness guests are free to use the pool at WL right now. I know it has been a problem in the past, but right now it is within the rules for campers to swim at WL.

There are so many pools being done right now I wouldn't be surprised if all of the others were overcrowded.

Well that makes sense, It just stinks, I guess if guests at one resort are going to be inconvenienced, all should be???

Don't worry...next year they'll all be heading to BLT!

Seriously, I am glad they are making the FW pool a better pool. Pool hopping from FW guests has been a long standing problem at WL/VWL...worsened by the FW CM's who tell the guests to go ahead and head over to WL!

All of these problems would disappear if they just reopened River Country.

Actually, it would create a whole new problem -- I would head over there every time I am at VWL.

Isn't that the truth!! One of our main draws to VWL was easy access to River Country and also the bird sanctuary out on the island!! The year after we bought, both were closed!!!! I'm really surprised they haven't figured out a way to make River Country Work!!

They could make it work, but they would rather that you pay extra for Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
