We didn't get to stay DVC or even on-site (there was NO AVAILABILITY when I tried to book for the week after Easter), but did stay at the Courtyard on Palm and they upgraded us to a 2 room suite which was terrific.
Highlights:
Segway Tour! Our dd turned 16 on Friday, and she didn't know about it until we were checking in at the front gate. At Guest Relations I said I wished I were going with her, and this wonderful, fabulous CM made some calls and had me, the mom, added on to a full tour! (in the end, though, a group of 3 didn't show up). In a word: it was a FABULOUS event!
Birthday lunch at Chefs de France (per my dd's wish). Everyone there made it a perfect lunch. I had a glass of champagne to celebrate her birthday (figured I deserved it!). Food and service were wonderful. Waiters came and sang, some French intern kissed her (cheek to cheek, French style) at the suggestion of the maitre d'---she loved it. The dessert they brought was to die for. Gorgeous table location. Lots of "happy birthdays" all day long with that badge on.
The new stunt show at MGM was on-the edge-of-your-seat exciting. So glad we went! Tip: enter the park and go get fastpasses for the first show----they don't count against your fastpass allotment.
Funniest moment: the woman outside of Splash Mtn. who said loudly, while pointing to the waterfall chute---"you don't really go down there, it's for looks only." I looked right at her and started laughing, then a boat full of screaming people came down it and I laughed harder.
Final highlight: the AP discount. Thanks to it, we went ahead and got AP's this year, in Januray. This is now our 3rd trip (added at the last moment since we have the AP's). It will be hard to go back; I love the freedom of coming and going and doing half days on arrival, seeing new things on a relaxed scale. We'll get at least 20 days out of them this year---not bad!
Next trip to dream about: Beachclub in May.....
