Here's my Sci-Fi review - enjoy!

It was HOT this day, people! We were beaten down by the heat of standing in line getting pictures with the Star Wars characters (both my kids are way into it) and were looking forward to some time in the A/C. We got called in early - again - and we were led through the place and seated in one of the cars. Oh my, the temperature was nice in there!

First a word about the place. It's dark. Really dark. While this might be weird for some, we welcomed the respite from the blinding sun outside. The theming is really cool - they have the whole drive-in motif down cold, from the cars to the window speakers to the giant screen. We were expecting movies on the screen, but they are more like old adverts and trailers. Still very funny and enjoyable.

The cars have 3 rows of seats and we only took up 2 of them, so we had a couple seated behind us. It was fun joking around with them (no making out back there, you two!) and added a fun social aspect to the meal. The server was quick with our drinks, I think she could tell we were withered from the blast furnace outside.

For apps we got onion rings, spinach dip and a fruit cup. The onion rings were big, crunchy, greaseless and filled with oniony goodness. The spinach dip was decent, not great but not terrible. The cheese was nice and tangy and creamy but the chips were somewhat stale. The fruit wasn't very ripe but hey, it's just fruit. Not much you can do there.

For entrees we had cheeseburgers and BBQ chicken sandwiches. These have been summed up pretty well in other reviews. They were fine but nothing spectacular, just your average burger / chicken. Deserts were milkshakes and these were delish! The server was quick with refills (I had 4 Diet Cokes - thirsty!) but sort of disappeared between the entree and dessert.

If you haven't been don't hesitate to eat there, but we probably won't be back. It was fun to try, though. Watch out for the attack of the 50 foot woman and Colossal Man!

Food - 5
Service - 6

Great review. We also ate here for the first time in April. I was very surprised by my DD8's reaction to the movie clips. She was very scared! She's no "fraidy cat" either! She kept saying "This is creepy.", and would duck her head during certian scenes.
The food was good, but had a hard time enjoying it, as I couldn't find it! Had to get a flashlight to read the menu.
I agree, the theming is great, just wish they'd consider a different genre of films. Silent movies, old cartoons....something not so "creepy", not to mention boring. I got it, but I don't think many children would.
As you said, glad I'm we tried it ( my DD def. was not). Don't think we'll go back.

Glad to hear it wasn't too bad, we are eating there for lunch in a few weeks and I keep hearing such mixed reviews about it. We are not fancy eaters, so I thought it would work for our family.

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed it. We enjoyed lunch there when we went last year. As a matter of fact I made my ADR for this year yesterday!
Thanks Again!

I think people expect too much of the place, which is why you hear some of the negative reviews. Just go and expect typical burgers and stuff, and enjoy the atmosphere. It really is a fun experience.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks for the review. I've never eaten here but would like to try it once just for the atmosphere.

Are the shakes included in the DDP? What would they be considered - a dessert or a beverage? We are having an early dinner here in Oct. Great reviews of all the restaurants, by the way!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

When we went last year, our server said the shakes can be considered a Beverage OR Dessert!

My son had one as his beverage, and I was able to get one "to go" as my dessert!
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Sci Fi... the dark quiet atmosphere is a great way to take a break from the hot sun.

BUT>> we ate so much that we were pretty much useless for the afternoon!

Hey All
Me and my Hubby LOVE this place for LUNCH only...If you like cornbeef and saurkrawt (oops spell check) hehehe, anyway its called the ruben sandwich it is on marble bread, it is HUGE i am telling you two people can eat this sandwhich and me and my hubby are not small people we are pooh sized people and we get an app and share the sandwich for lunch and get shakes for dessert, they are yummy. but if you like cornbeef you will LOVE this sandwhich trust me.

Let me know if anyone gets it and enjoys it...........

We will be trying out this place in August for a 2:30 pm late lunch.
We are hoping this will be a great break from the heat.
There is a total of 8 of us and I was told when making my ressie that we would be split up into 2 cars.
There will be 4 adults, a 10yo, 5yo, 2yo and baby.

Looking forward to milkshakes and great food (free dining will rock!!!)

They told us they would count as a dessert, but apparently the interpretations vary from server to server.

We were recently there too nd were suprised after hearing lots of bad reviews I mean it wasn't CRT but better then we expected. With dining plan we tried to try and everything and even though i don't know if we'll go back we thought it was fun and the food was decent!

Great review! :thumbsup2

We ate there once for dinner and the kids really, really enjoyed it. The food is okay, but it's the atmosphere that makes it so great. Their favorite was the glow in the dark ice cubes!!

We are going back again in a few weeks!

We really enjoy the SciFi for lunch. It's such a great break from the summer heat and crowds. The food is simple fare, but we've never had a bad meal. The hamburgers were juicy, onion rings hot and crispy and yummy milkshakes. My favorite is the Reuben.

If you go in Aug just be sure that no matter what the weather looks like to cover the stroller before you go in. I went last Aug and we had no idea there was a thunder storm while we were inside and came out to find the stroller soaking wet. There are no windows inside so you don't know whats going on outside. It really a great place to take a break from the park.

My DS(4) LOVED it!!!! Had his 1st milkshake there and kept asking for more all through the trip. We went back with my other 2 kids 6 & 2 in Oct and they all LOVED it!!! We were in the row of cars closest to the screen and my 2 year old loved the movies and eating in a car. It is on our list of places to go to on our next trip.
