We just finished our week at Disney. We had free dining and we loved it. Maybe food is better when it is free, but we enjoyed just about every meal.

San Angel Inn-loved the atmosphere but the food was only so-so, margaritas were good
BOG lunch-the worst all week; maybe we were too hot and tired to enjoy a meal
BOG dinner-the best and DH fav; steak was so good it was like eating candy and the chip cups were a big hit with the kids; the beast was the icing on the cake;
Tusker House- great service and atmosphere;best buffet food we have ever had and the pina colada was the best we have ever had
Sci-fi Drive In-my favorite of the week; we loved the atmosphere after a long, hot day in the parks and the food was good especially the milkshakes, burgers, and caramel apple doughnut (yummm)
Crystal Palace- buffet was pretty good especially the mashed potatoes and the characters were a delight

Also, the fried shrimp and the mini doughnuts were awesome at Typhoon Lagoon!!

My husband had the Croque Monsieur which I thought was pretty good but he didn't like it. I had the Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin Style) which was really just too heavy on a hot day in the parks. The kids had
Grilled Cheese and Turkey Noodle Soup and they said the grilled cheese was awful. How do you mess up grilled cheese? We just enjoyed sitting down in the cool air and refilling our cokes/water.

Good to hear you enjoyed your meals. Your experience seems different than most as Dis members used to always claim that Free Dining had ruined dining at WDW.

I know this is subjective but the food truley was better prior IMO. The food is not terrible but it generally was better years ago. Whether that change is from the dining plan solely, or not can be debated.

Thanks for your review. We have ADR's for all of those restaurants (plus a few others) on our next trip. Crystal Palace will be new to us.

The seasonal burger was a southern burger with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese on it. It was good but a little messy. The milkshakes were vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, and pineapple.
The cookies and cream shake at scifi is honestly the best ive had in a loooong time. Simply outstanding. :love: Yes I love scifi as well.

Agreed, the southern burger was pretty messy but I thought very good! First time I'd been to Sci-Fi and loved it!

I have been interested in the Crystal Palace in the past. I travel with adults. How 'kiddie' is it? It seems to be more themed for children, or families with young children; however I have been looking for dining options allowing me to spend more time in the Magic Kingdom area!

DH and I, no kids, eat there often. The characters are Winnie the Pooh but other than that, nothing about it is geared towards kids or families from our perspective. They have some unique offerings, particularly at breakfast like the breakfast lasagna.

Thanks! I am feeling inclined to give it a try.

Cool, I'd like to try the pineapple one if it's still available next month.
