I just got back tonight. not really a disney trip, I went to visit a friend who lives in the area. we did, however, make it over to disney for 2 meals. on monday (april 30) we ate at the yachtsman. I haven't been to the yachtsman in 8 or 9 years, so was a bit wary, but still wanted to go. so glad I did! It was for my birthday and they were so sweet...had special menus printed up with balloons on it and my name and happy x birthday (do I really need to tell?). very sweet. they also gave me a personalized button, and pretty much everyone seemed to go out of their way to wish me a happy birthday.
for a cocktail, I went with the yachtsman martini, which I highly recommend. I got the filet, which was very good. I had heard the steak wasn't as good as it used to be, but I must have been lucky because mine was very good. it came with mashed potatoes and I ordered asparagus, also good. my friend got the sea bass, which she enjoyed, and said she liked the risotto was better than she expected. she got a side of mushrooms since she loves them, but saved them for the next day...they didn't really go with the sea bass, and looked too good not to order. I can vouch that she did take them home and eat them, and really seemed to enjoy them. we both ate about half our meals and were very, very full. surprise to me, my friend had ordered a birthday cake for me. very nice of her, but we were too full to dig in so we took it home. surprise to her, when we finally did dig into it, it was dry and awful, as I've heard most wdw cakes are. I would have warned her had I known, but it was the thought that counted. very sweet thought.
we had breakfast at boma on wednesday, and it was good. typical buffet, but everything was hot and fresh (so maybe not so typical, lol). missed the mickey waffles, they had plain ones here, but the french toast was phenomenal. the fruit was very good, my friend and her daughter loved the sweet breads (she was shocked at how fresh they were). no complaints here, and it was a nice way to see the AKL finally. I'd always wanted to check it out, and it was nice. we walked a couple of the trails after (around 10:30am) and hoped to see some animals, but no luck, just a few birds were out. too bad, but still happy to have finally made it over there.
feel free to ask any questions!
