Just a reminder about our cast of characters...
Me, 29 - loves to eat
DH, 30 - eats anything in sight
DS, 7 - same as DH
DD, 6 - our picky eater
Grandma, 55 and Grandpa, 54
Dec6 - This was to be our biggest eating day and I was wondering how we would consume all the food. I had nothing to worry about. It must have been all the walking plus the fact that our bodies were using energy to keep warm on this rather windy day.
Breakfast - Storybook Princess at 8:30am. So nice to walk thru when it's empty. Having never been in Akershus, I had no idea what to expect. What a great venue! It really is neat inside with the vaulted ceilings and chandeliers and such. We came to the table with a stacked tray of muffins and rolls and fruit (canteloupe and strawberries) and our drink orders were taken. Then the breakfast skillet was brought out with scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and potatoes. I skipped the taters since I could see they had onions, but everyone else loved them. Unlike Cindy's, these eggs were done to a much better consistency. Kids loved the sausages - had to get another skillet full. The princesses came around and we were SO excited to see Mulan!! Jasmine, Snow White, Princess Aurora and Belle were also there. This was a great breakfast and everyone loved it. 9/10
Lunch - Garden Grill. This is DH's favorite so we have to eat here whenever we hit WDW. Plus, it's so relaxing and the characters always make you feel special and not rushed. The food here is so down to earth homemade, it's a good change from some of the other stuff you eat at WDW. The catfish was fabulous - and this coming from a person who hates fish. The kids even ate some. The characters were very attentive. The flank steak, good as usual, and I was so full, I had no room for the dessert which was a pumpkin cheesecake type thing. DH - a pumpkin pie freak - declared it YUM! 9/10
Dinner - Restaurant Marra kesh with CP package. Made the mistake of not bringing my receipt that I got with my tags so they thought I never paid for dinner. Got it straightened out, but freaked my out for a bit. We had never eaten here before so we thought we'd try it. What a great decision! We all got Royal Feasts so we tried a bit of everything. I didn't really care for the eggplant with my salad. The couscous was great, the lamb was good, but a little fatty in my portion, the beef bastilla - to die for!, the seafood was I really liked, but no one else at my table liked it. We had something with chicken, but right now I can't remember what it was, just that I liked it. We also got to try a lot of different desserts, and they all were great. Grandma and I tried the hot mint tea, because we were still cold from that day - and I think it was so good because they pour the brewed tea over fresh mint sprigs. Ohhhhhhh, did that hit the spot. The belly dancer was fantastic - DD really wanted to get picked, but wasn't. It was funny to see all the middle aged men she picked to dance with her. Fantastic eating experience here. 9/10
Sat. - Had room service from the Polynesian as a surprise for the kids. They thought it was cool to have it deilvered. They had Mickey waffles and loved them, except DD hated the syrup - we use lite syrup at home and I think this was the real maple stuff, so she didn't eat it. I had Tonga Toast and can see why people love it so much. Yum!
Lunch was at Kennedy Space Center.
Dinner was at Boma. Big mistake to go to a resort restaurant on a Sat. night. We arrived 45 minutes before our PS time and we didn't get seated until 45 minutes AFTER our PS time. By this time, the kids were starving, I was starving and my patience was gone. No apologies, no nothing, especially after they sat larger groups than ours before us, who checked in AFTER us. Aside from the customer service flaws, the food was great, as usual. Great prime rib, great ckicken, love the pap. Ate like 6 zebra domes. Kids ate good. Grandpa loved the Roasted Squash Soup. DH hated the Chicken Coconut Soup. Server about had a coronary when we asked for separate checks - first one to have a problem with it. DO we love Boma - oh yeah! 3/10 for service this time, 10/10 for food.
More to come in Part 3.
