let me start by saying we have stayed at POR many times and went out of our way to make sure we stayed there this time. we may never stay there again. we found the room dirty, buildup in the corners, something that looked like a thumb under a bed, we didnt get close enough to make sure. the food court selections have gotten worse, dining plan thing? the bus service is what stood out the most. MGM return bus station is 14 one evening about half way through EMH the line was snaked all the way through 14 and all the way back to 11. lots of people were real mad. they finally pulled some busses and for a while there were two busses at a time picking up at 14. this is only one situation, things like this happened thoughout the stay. this is the first time ever that we have been disapointed in a stay anywhere on property. any specfic questions i will be happy to answer them.

I am so sad to hear this. We have stayed at POR several times and we loved it until our last visit there (roach in bathroom). I have been getting my nerve up to stay there again as we have wonderful memories of that resort. I know Florida has a lot of bugs but this was the first and last time I have ever encountered one in our room. The rooms are dark anyway and not always cleaned properly (on threads) and I have been concerned about staying there. Your experience just reinforces my anxieties about this resort.

Experiences can differ so much! We stayed at POR earlier month, and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Great room, quiet, room nicely done each day, and (totally unexpected for 2 adults) a couple of towel animals. Bus service was fine, (never waited more than 15 minutes) and we were pleased with the food selections. It was peaceful, and we felt we had a lovely stay there.

We did a split stay, and our CSR experience was terribly unpleasant, so much so that a letter has gone out. For us, it was like night and day. FWIW, I think it is important to attempt to resolve problems during your stay. We did attempt this, but CSR wasn't concerned.

The Disney experience can vary so much. It is sometimes really surprising.

nope, i have been in retail mgmt all my life and have found that nothing usually results from gripeing. oh they would have come and removed the "thumb" and did the corners but the next day it would have been back the the same old same old. i also think it is a matter of expectation, there are some who would have walked into that same room and raved about how wonderful it was, we had a towel elephant and a towel faucet rabbit. i wish they would have dispensed with that nonsense and vacuumed.:rotfl2:

We loved POR in April of this year. But the bus service was the one downside.

We are going to FQ next year as their busses were much better. I know they share, but you at least get on them first and off first coming back

we just got back, this was our second time to POR... the landscaping, especially in the mansion section, seems to have been abandoned... it seemed a lot was over grown... and the room looked liked it hadn’t been vacuumed in sometime… the landscaping being one of the reasons for staying here, not sure if we’ll return to POR next time…

We felt the same way about POR this past February. Bus service was horrid! We missed the first bus every time (too full) and then waited to stand the whole way when we did get a bus.

Our room was not dirty- and the lanscaping was great- my only real complaint was the bus.

Now I'm really scared:confused: We are going to POR in 23 days for the 1st time! I hope I will not be disappointed:sad2:

It certainly was OP's right to say nothing, and then discuss their experience here....but, I would keep in mind that whatever happened POR wasn't notified, and wasn't given the opportunity to correct it.

I had a great stay there in the past month. Lots of experiences on the boards.

And an aside about the buses, (my personal experience here) I found there were often plenty of folks waiting for buses, but the buses came along regularly. I don't mind waiting with "neighbors" as long as we all get picked up reasonably quickly. We were.

Last two years we saw busses like that with the long lines (June and July). Fortunately, we were in French Quarters, which usually had a separate line. POR is just too large. I wouldn't worry about it in the value season though. in fact, I only saw it a couple times out of dozens of bus trips. and most around the 4th of July week.

Are you saying that if you called housekeeping and they came and cleaned your room and removed the "thumb" from under the bed, a new "thumb" would've appeared under the bed the next day?? Now THAT is :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sorry, don't mean to downplay your disappointment, but that just struck me as funny

You have been in retail management all your life? So if you have a customer with concerns you do nothing?
yes they would have come and removed the "thumb" and cleaned the room that is what you are complaining about. I am sure they would have been sure to KEEP the room clean for the duration of your stay, so what is the same old same old?
As for the food court you don't make it clear what you did not like there, the offerings?

What is the point of posting about something you find fault with but didn't even try to do a thing about?

Wow this makes me nervous, we (df and I) are getting married on 9/8/07, 8 days from now, thats also the day we arrive at POR for our honeymoon. I really hope we dont have the same experience as the OP. I do agree with some of the other posters that if management and or staff was not notified how could they fix the problem. I can see your complaint if you had notified the staff and nothing was done.

Which section did you stay in at POR?

we stayed in room 8567... the gazebo was in front.. If you walked down the center walk way it looked like the owners moved out about 6 months ago… . I talked to a cast member who said the landscaping was outsourced…. and to the point of cleanliness... shouldn't these things be done prior to you even entering the room as part of a quality assurance? shouldn't the room be clean prior to a new guest? I had family staying in 8592 and the refrigerator cabinet door was no longer there…. You could see the hinges, but no door, should you notify mgt about that? Shouldn’t that be part of the QA of a room? You pay a lot of money to stay here….

:thumbsup2

We were forced to stay at POR since we are a family of 5 and we can't afford the deluxe. We were nervous to stay the first time because of all the hype about the buses but we did and we love it. The buses I must say compared to the ASM are very s l o w. We have always found our rooms clean and no friends in the bathroom so far:rotfl2: Don't give up on POR it might just be the time you went or the week.

We were there in April for 6 nights and everything was wonderful. The room was always cleaned, lots of extra towels for the 5 of us. I actually enjoyed the food court area. I particularly enjoyed the pasta station and the salad station. You could add what you wanted to either. We never really waited more than 5 minutes for a bus going to a park. Coming back from a park we waited a bit longer, but so was everybody else. I also feel like you should have said something about what you didn't like about your room. If you don't say anything, nothing will be done.

Well, we haven't stayed there yet, but will be in January. No one will be completely satisfied 100% of the time, but I'm hoping to be able to give POR a big Thumbs Up (pun fully intended, gimme a hand (that one intended too)). Seriously, sorry your experience was less than enjoyable, but I'm still looking forward to it
