Just back OKW

We just returned from OKW.

I was hesitant about our trip to OKW just because I felt like it was so far away from everything. We needed the space though so I booked it.

At check in, there seemed to be a long line of people checking in. The line moved quite rapidly and I never thought my location requests would come through because there seemed to be so many people checking in at the same time. I was wrong. The check in went very smoothly and quickly and not only were all my requests fullfilled, but I actually had several choices of location. I was very happy.

We had a 2 bedroom in 34. 3rd floor. Loved everything about it. The size was wonderful. The unit itself very nicely appointed.

I didn't feel far away from anything. We only used the bus a few times and had no problems.

We enjoyed this property very much.

Great, we will be there on Sunday 6/18. We stayed there last year and loved it. Can't wait to get there.

Obviously, OKW is my favorite DVC, and home! I love the way they are doing villa assignments now. Works like a charm!

Yes, we've always been given a choice of rooms at OKW, no matter how busy it's seemed. I wonder if it always happens, so far it's always happened to us.

Did you request Turtle Pond area? I think that's an easier request to get, more people request close to HH. I requested Turtle Pond on 4 trips and got it everytime.

Originally I had requested to be near the HH but really, I had other priority requests over being near the HH, like an entrance into the bathroom from the laundry room and being on the third floor. I did not request Turtle Pond but loved being there. It was so quiet and peaceful. You immediatly start to relax and unwind from the moment you open up your door. There is such a thing as being "over stimulated" and WDW can be over stimulating. Going to OKW was like putting on your fluffy slippers after wearing high heals all day.
It was a vacation within a vacation.

Question: How come this OP was moved? I thought it fit perfectly with the DVC discussion board.

Glad to hear that about OKW....Is Turtle Pond area near a bus stop? It's by the tennis courts, right? Our friends stayed there over Spring Break and loved being so close to the Tennis Courts!! They had a car and didn't use the bus service at all. I'll have a car, but my daughter loves taking the bus any where we can. Plus, I'll take the bus to MK. I requested near HH and the pool with the castle slide since that's where we'll be at least once a day while we're at the OKW. I'd also like to do some laundry before heading back home. Can't justify the 1bdrm since it'll just be the two of us!! I love WDW...I'm looking forward to visiting the OKW finally!

There are actually 3 cul-de-sacs that use the Turtle Pond bus stop, so most are within easy distance to the bus stop. I chuckled at your "only two of us so no need for a 1 bedroom" statement. We feel with two of us, there is no need for a studio, because of the extra bed and lack of laundry room and whirlpool. We rarely get a studio, and when we do, it's just for a night to fill out a reservation. In fact, we will be staying in an OKW studio for 1 night in December before our guests come, when we will switch to a 2 bedroom. Then after they leave, we will be in the 1 bedroom to conserve points, but we have been known to keep the 2 bedroom for a few nights for just the 2 of us after guests have left.

Yes, it's just my DD and myself. Checking out the OKW for future visits and possible add-on. If it were my DH, he'd have us in at least a 1 bdrm the whole trip, not trying other resorts etc... I may change my mind by the time this trip is over!! I'm especially going to miss not having a washer & dryer in our villa.

OK..I hear you but for the life of me I cant see a DVC Mousecellaneous Board.
Can you tell me where that is located? I'm probably missing tons of good stuff!
I can see it by the link you sent but why isnt there a heading for DVC Mousecellanious in the DVC column for discussion boards?

Yep, it's there. You can click on the "Disney Vacation Club" link at the top of this page (to the left of your "Welcome, trvlnman1" section). Also, check the drop down menu at the bottom of the thread listing page, it's in there too.
