It was HOT. I am from Louisiana, so I know what hot is. But, the heat in the parks was brutal. We did as suggested, got to the parks early, left at noon for the resort, went back into the parks around 5 or so. The crowds were manageable, but the heat was not. This was our first trip in the summer months, and it will probably be our last. This was a last minute trip. I am glad I went, but if the only time I could go for the year was in the summer, I would stay home. The bus service was amazing. We stayed at POR FQ, and never waited more than 3-4 minutes for the bus. I don't know if we just hit every bus stop at the right time or if there are a lot more buses running than in the off season when we normally go. I enjoyed POR FQ, but was disappointed with the limited selections in the food court. We rode everything we wanted several times. We saw Spectro and Wishes twice. EMH nighttime at MK was a joke. So not worth it due to crowds. But, it was fun being at MK so late at night. Overall, it was an enjoyable trip because we took our time. Hope everyone had as good a time as we did.

We just got back, too, and I agree that it was HOT! Some days, we didn't even go into the parks until 5:00 just so we'd be out of the heat -- we lounged at the pool more than ever on this trip.

We actually had an okay experience with EMH at MK. True, the waits for the mountains were too long, but we got through all of Fantasyland and the smaller rides in the other lands. I liked E-Ride nights better, but I liked that almost everything was open during EMHs.

Glad you had a good time!

After 3 trips in the summer, this MAY well have been our last one in July-Aug too. The kids find the heat harder to endure than the crowds.....

The pools and water parks were wonderful, but I think we will give december another try. The kids have not seen WDW in the holiday season yet....and I think just being out of the heat no matter what the amount of people out there will bring back their smiles....

Somehow, Dec 2006 seems sooo far away.

You will adore WDW in December. Well worth the wait in my opinion.

I am a die hard park person and I have been staying out of the parks more this last month or so. We don;t stay long, and arrive after dinner. Even last night we did not stay long in Epcot. When there is no breeze like last night, it really makes it more intolerable.

We went once with our kids during the summer and I vowed we would never do that again. It is just too hot and crowded. I know a lot of parents don't have any other choice but we found that we could take our kids out of school for 1 week in December and we all enjoyed it so much more. Since our kids have left home my wife and myself just love December in WDW. The crowds are so much smaller except for Saturdays in the MK. We will be back again this year from Dec. 1-10. We love the special holiday activities at WDW. We will be booking our CPP tommorrow morning.

Ditto! :sunny:

msmouse: just a  from a fellow Baton Rougean! Yes, it has been hot at home, but I agree, the heat at WDW is hot. DH and I usually go in May & October. Must better. I'm reallly wanting to go in December. Maybe next year.

Oh well, we're giving August a try, next week, we'll be there!

We just returned from a quick weekend trip as well, and I agree that the heat was hard to manage! As a Floridian, I feel like the humidity this summer has been worse than years past, but I might just be getting old!?!

Anyway, we spent our days at Typhoon Lagoon or the resort pool and hit the parks in the morning or evenings, which worked out just great.

We also stayed at POFQ and I totally agree with msmouse about the food court. It was just too small overall; DH and I had trouble finding a seat at breakfast this morning and the resort really didn't seem that crowded overall. I can't imagine what it must be like when it's crowded! The room, the pool, the grounds, and the location were all wonderful though.

Just back as well - found the heat quite manageable, because we reminded ourselves to take it slow, take lots of water breaks, and soak up as much AC as possible before going to the next attraction!

WE did most of our touring in the morning, until around noon, back to Beach Club for pool/AC time, then back out around 4 PM. We stayed until park closings a few nights, but it stayed crowded. Fastpass planning is a must!

how did you find the heat compared to the heat in MA lately? we are heading down to WDW next week and I've been trying to mentally prepare myself for the heat. When I checked the weather in Orlando the other day, it said 89 and here it was way over 90! Is the heat even comperable to what we have here??

:sunny: We went to Florida in July went to Sea World two times. We didn't mind the heat or the humidity. We were visiting friends this trip. It's been hotter up here lately then down there. Take your time and drink lots of water. We have been at the end of August, last year. It was ok, didn't mind heat and crowds were low.

We just got back on friday and I'll have to say this will be our last Aug. trip :earseek: I was prepared for the heat but the kids were not our DD6 gave up fast so we went with a stroller everyday! It was nice only to have a place to keep our frozen water bottles, we never had a problem with the stoller, but the heat really made people crazy! :rotfl2:
Some on the things people did :earseek: I just kept saying "it's the heat, it's the heat" Tried to be as nice as possible to everyone, but not again in August! :wave2:

I think we must have been lucky this year! We were at WDW July 13 to 20 and it wasn't that bad. Yes, of course it was hot, but it was hotter here in the D.C. area. We did have frequent breezes, especially in the evening. We went to Rose and Crown on the 17th and sat outside and then did Illuminations and it couldn't have been more pleasant. I will say on the day we left, the 20th, that it felt like the heat was about to get worse. While we were there, the highs had been low 90s, but that day it was 96 and you could feel the difference. It felt just like.... here in D.C.!!! We've had mid to high 90s a lot this summer.

Next time I will do August, late August, since our kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day. I've heard enough about the somewhat reduced crowds to convince me... I guess I will just have to take my chances with hurricane season.

We've been in late June/early July and in late August (teacher here, not much choice). We found the earlier weather to be worse than in late August, although all were bearable - especially after shoveling snow 3x a day for weeks at a time in the winter! We just plan to make frequent use of the pools and sometimes the kids choose to carry mister fans with them in the parks. We have yet to check out the water parks, even - it hasn't been bad enough to drive us there (though we are interested, jsut prefer to spend our time and money otherwise so far).
