We had a fantastic vacation. My kids thoroughly enjoyed their first trip to WDW. We met LOTS of characters and rode everything we wanted to. Fastpass is great....use it!

Any questions???? I'd be happy to help. I will try to get to a trip report soon, but I've got to get re-accustomed to work and sort through about 1.2 Gigabytes of digital pictures!!!

Lot's of questions. But I guess anything more you can tell me about it I'd really appreciate. How was the transportation? Did you take any lodge tours? Eat at Artist Point? Did you walk over to FW? And I've always wondered, being from another hot area of Texas, how did the weather compare to what you're used to? People talk about how hot it is, but I always wonder-will it seem that different to us? Thanks.

Well, let me see if I can answer a few of those questions..

We didn't take any of the tours, walk to FW, or eat at Artist Point. My 3 and 6 year olds would have balked at those things. Though we did go over to FW, as my brother-in-law's family was camping there.

The transportation was great. We only had one really bad experience with an Epcot bus one morning. The bus was the first Epcot bus in over 35 minutes, so we filled it up. The driver was clueless, as he headed over to FW anyway. He couldn't get the automatic gate to open at the campground, so we spent 5 minutes backing up and going forward, over and over. He got out of the bus, got the gate to open, ran to the bus, but the gate was already down! We did finally make it to Epcot at about 9:30 am (we were at the bus stop at about 8:15).

Finally, the weather. I personally don't think it was bad at all. About the same as I'm used to in Houston. Our 3 yo and 6 yo kids both walked everywhere (no stroller in any park) with absolutely no complaints. There were a couple of days I know we walked 4-5 miles! The only places that the heat seems a bit worse is AK (the jungle foliage blocks most of the breeze) and the area around Splash and Big Thunder at MK. For some reason that area seems hotter than the rest of the park. (more humans and concrete I guess) Drink lots of water and have fun, it's not all that hot.

Sounds like you had a great time!! Thanks for posting!! :) WL is one of my favorite places!!

Did you have a courtyard view?

was "woods view" with bunk beds. It was a lobby room over Whispering Canyon. Room #5082. A bit loud until after 10 pm, and we were going to complain until we noticed our view of the MK fireworks!!!! Awesome view, and the kids were too tired after the first full day for the noise to matter at all!

I stayed in 4082 a couple years ago!!! It also had the bunk beds!

Glad you had a good time at WL!

Hi ! I'm glad you had a great time at WL. I'll be staying there for the first time on my honeymoon this August. How was check-in, staff, and mousekeeping during your stay? Thanks!

Check-in was great. There was no one waiting when we arrived and I had our tickets/keys, room number, and Fantasmic dinner pkg ressie done within 5 minutes of arrival. We arrived about 3 pm on a Saturday. I did, however, see long lines on Sunday and the next Saturday.

Everyone we had any contact with on the staff was wonderful, so no problems at all there.

Our mousekeeper was Ana. We used the mousekeeping tip envelopes that everyone talks about and left $5 per day. She always arranged my children's stuffed toys, and left a towel creations that last 3 days of our trip. (a rabbit, duck, and an angel) We always had more than the standard 4 towels, too.

It's a beautiful resort, you'll love it.

Did you do any character breakfasts while you were at WL? I was wondering about timing transportation to the MK or Contemporary (Chef Mickey's) for breakfast?

Did you use Roaring Forks or the Mercantile for any snacks/meals?

When you say you had a woods view/lobby room, what do you mean? We stayed at WL before with a woods view but had to walk through the lobby, by AP and Roaring Forks to the elevator.
Which elevator did you take to your room? I'm a little confused.

Did you enjoy the pool? That slide can be great fun!

Looking forward to your trip report,
Penny

P.S. You must have troopers for kids! No strollers? I'm impressed.

We ate at Artist's Point last month when we were at WDW. I forgot until that night how great of a restaurant it is. The food was awesome as it was 5 years prior to that visit!

I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, just delicious, dh had the pork tenderloin, excellent, dd had chicken fingers.

We had the chocolate bread pudding for dessert, out of this world...and dd
(3 1/2) had this neat white chocolate dessert that was puzzle pieces of Mickey she could paint with colored jellies (and put together). It came with 2 cookies. She only ate one of the cookies, but I would have paid $20 for it for all of the time it kept her busy while dh & I relaxed having our dessert and coffee:) for a half hour after dinner:)

As for the weather, I remember being in San Antonio, TX several years ago in October and it was HOT then! Pretty comparable to our 8 months here:)

We did a couple of character meals. We did Cinderella's breakfast, which was awesome. Our group of 8 became a group of 4 when my BIL's family didn't show up (FW campground told them they would drive them over and then didn't show up!). They made it late and the Ticket& Trans Center employees called the restaurant to tell them to hold a table, which they did! We all got to eat together in the end. We also did Chef Mickey's which was my personal favorite. The food is awesome.

We also used Roaring Forks several times. We would grab some quick breakfast stuff some mornings and a few lunch/dinners.

Our room was directly above Whispering Canyon, in the lobby. We usually took the elevators in the lobby, unless we were going to Roaring Forks or the boat dock.

We only used the pool one day, believe it or not. We did do Typhoon Lagoon one morning though.

I look forward to reading your trip report make sure you let us know when it's up and where it is. I would like to read how you kept your sanity between the bus to Epcot and the Cinderella breakfast. We stayed in room 5084 last Feb. and came back from the parks to find scaffolding and construction workers right off our balcony. We enjoyed having our room on the lobby, despite the noise, at night we would eat snacks in the hallway and people watch while our 6 month old slept in the room. - Mike
