We just got back from a week-long stay and had some interesting things to share. Feel free to ask any questions….(it’s our 4th time to WDW in the past year – just to give you an idea of our perspective).
We have always stayed at WL club-level, it feels like home to us. I surprised the kids and booked GF club level (Sugar Loaf) and thought they would be thrilled. From the moment we walked in, it just didn’t feel right to us. We asked and were switched back to WL and absolutely loved it. GF just had a different non-Disney vibe to us. I can answer more questions about this if you have any.
We tried for weeks before to get FPs for FOP and couldn't get them, and then on two of the days we where there, we got same day FPs for FOP. My advice – just keep checking, over and over. I checked every half hour and at one point (around 11am), could have gotten one any hour of that day. FOP was the best ride we have ever gone on and well worth it!
If you stay at WL, ask for a room between 5000 upwards (even numbers) on the 4th, 5th or 6th floor and you will have an awesome fireworks view.
We were the first family to arrive at BoG for our breakfast reservation and had a special photo taken, and treated to a few extra special things including a fast pass for any ride. Since it was the last day of our trip and we had pretty much already one everything, we went to the last family in line for 7 dwarfs and gave them the fast pass (saved them an hour wait)! She started to cry and that was worth way more than a fast pass! With the early morning BoG reservation (8:10), we were able to ride 7 dwarfs twice before the park even opened, and then were able to be waiting at Peter Pan to be first on that ride too.
At the poolside BINGO at our hotel, we won a free pontoon boat rental for an hour ($90 value). One of the absolute best things we have ever done and will absolutely do it again next time.
We had a 6:15 reservation at O’hana (hard reservation to get), and decided to miss it because we were having so much fun at Blizzard Beach. Stayed there til 8pm (if you stay till close, you can ride any of the slides without a wait), and then ordered room service at the hotel. One of our best Disney memories ever. My recommendation – don’t do the restaurants because you feel like you should do it – just be willing to wing it according to how things are going.
There were some ADRs we couldn't get ahead of time, and were able to get every reservation we wanted 24-hours before (because people cancel). So, if you can’t get times you want ahead of time, just keep trying (especially 24-36 hours before).’
Geyser Point at WDW is a must do if you have QS meals to use – it is amazing! We ate there every day for lunch!
Splitsville was an amazing memories for the kids – would do that again – play and dine at the same time.
Our favourite memories from this trip were playing ping-pong and basketball at WDW, scrabble in the club level, campfire at the hotel and pontoon rental (more so than any fast pass or ADR) – so don’t be afraid to try the more relaxing things at Disney.
Feel free to ask questions and I will respond
