I was scared off by some posts saying that DL would be over run by Texas Longhorns and convention people. Well- yesterday I took my DD18 and her friend (freshmen at Syracuse) and my DS21 (Univ. of Boulder)both on break. We got there a few minute before opening at 10:00 and were able to hit both parks and visit all of the high profile attractions. Crowds were very light and the day could not have been more beautiful.
So be sure to take full advantage of the FP system. Can not emphasize that enough. It is so surprising to see people waiting in even 30 minutes lines unnecessarily. Because of the light crowds we were able to get a FP about every hour. We jumped on Nemo and Matterhorn (got FP to SM)- moved to Fantasyland rides (Mr. Toad & Alice just never get old)- SM, lunch at Pizza Port. Over to Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Tree House, Pirates, Splash (Fastpass), Winnie the Pooh, Indiana Jones (fast pass) and then headed over to California Adventure. No FP offered for Toy Story mania so we ended waiting about 30 minutes for Soaring and then 40 for TSM. Screamin', Monsters Inc. and then back to DL to end with Small World. Finished at 6:30pm...whew.

The great thing about conventioneers is they are never there during the day. If you avoid the parks in the evening when large conventions are in town you never notice they are there. There still after all these years are some people who still do not understand FP. I remember a few years back trying to explain to a family at WDW that anyone can use FP. Well of course her aunt told her who happens to be a cm that you had to stay onsite to use them. Finally after trying for almost 15 minutes of explaining how FP works she still insisted she was right....I tried:upsidedow

Thanks for this! We leave Sat morning for 4 days at Disneyland. I was a bit worried about the recent prediction of crowds. You've given me a ray of hope. And yes, we will be utlilizing fastpass! :thumbsup2
