Hi everyone! Just back from my YC club level stay. We checked in last Sunday, Aug. 17. It was myself, my husband, my daughter, my son and my son's friend. We had a standard view that was very close to the lounge. Before leaving, I checked in via online check-in. When I arrived, we were brought right up to the lounge, where both cm's at the desks were busy checking other guests in, so since I had completed online check in, I was directed to the lounge where my check in details were completed with the cm who escorted me upstairs via the ipad. Easy peasy and didn't take long at all. Both of my requests were honored, day bed and close to lounge. I didn't receive the welcome beverage, but that cm probably didn't know to do that, which is fine, minor fumble, and I didn't miss it. Our room wasn't ready but it was ready within 90 minutes so that was awesome! Overall - very efficient check-in.
Breakfast - the offerings are very much the same as they have been, mostly continental breakfast items, nothing exciting. I did like the espresso machine. That was a nice addition. Water bottles are gone and in it's place is a water container that you can get water out of. This didn't bother us because we brought 2 cases of water with us since I had read from another diser that the water bottles would soon be phased out, which has happened. Also, the large containers that dispensed orange juice and cranberry juice during the morning have been replaced with just regular sized pitchers, with small, small, juice glasses next to them. Probably hold 3 ounces of liquid. These pitchers always seemed to be refilled so it wasn't much of a difference there except for the obvious fact that it is part of their "cutbacks." Breakfast is good, not great, the pastries could be better, but its sufficient.
Afternoon snacks- bread/crackers with hummus, pretzel mix, cookies, pretzels with white chocolate; Swedish fish, and soft drinks.
Evening Appetizers - Good - but mostly fried...mozzarella cheese and tomatoes, cheese and crackers (I think, not sure) cole slaw one night, different cold type of salads on other nights. The beer/wine cart - out every night. 2 given at a time when asking for 2. The limit was 2 each time you ask. But some cm's could get an attitude... one day my husband and I came back from a very hot, hot, day at Hollywood Studios. My husband asked for 2 beers and proceeded to drink them down due to thirst back in our room. About 2 hours later (maybe around 4:30) he asked the same cm for 2 more beers and the cm said that the limit was 2. My husband said do you mean 2 for the day? Or do you mean 2 at a time? The cm said just 2 is the limit. My husband said that he'll take 2 beers (but this time without the attitude ) The cm did get the beers for him, which my husband drank because he was watching a baseball game and wanted a few (2) beers. I don't let surely attitudes from the help ruin my vacation, but my husband was very turned off by this cm's attitude. We did not complain about him to management, but my husband does not want to return to YC CL because of the obvious cut backs and inconsistent and vaguely explained rules about beer. It made him feel uncomfortable on vacation. This makes me feel badly because my husband, like many people, works very hard, and wants to enjoy himself on vacation. We are staying club level and want to follow the rules, but when rules or policy are vaguely explained and purposely left vague for people to "fill in the blanks" then misconceptions and problems arise. We probably won't be back to YC CL.
CM's - With the exception of 2 cm's, the club level cm's at YC were very friendly!! Always willing to help, cheerful, wishing you well, pleasant, smiling, everything positive!! There were a couple of wonderful, very Disney like employees - Shakira, absolute pleasure!! She should be allowed to provide training and workshops on how to be polite and friendly. Shakira is hospitality plus +++! Chuck, friendly, positive, polite, a young, pretty blonde haired, blue eyed girl who worked in the lounge is just like Shakira - just awesome! . There was another gentleman whose name escapes me, but he also worked in the lounge , mornings, afternoons, and he was wonderful. These are the cm's who set the pace and standards for hospitality at the YC CL. Sadly, there were 2 duds....both spoke Spanish to each other while working...and were not friendly. They seem to not enjoy their jobs. It was this gentleman who gave my husband the purposely vague answers and attitude about the beer. Perhaps another line of work would be more fulfilling?
We had reservations for dinner every night. We only ate breakfast in the lounge and rarely had appetizers, although I checked them out just to see what was offered. My boys hardly ate any appetizers since they were not to their liking...they ate rolls.
I loved my Disney vacation! We had a blast with each other and hated to see our vacation come to an end. We probably won't be returning to YC CL any time soon which is sad, but I hope to talk hubby into trying out other club levels. It just seems that YC is taking a turn for the worse with how they run their lounge and what they offer their guests. I think next time we'll just continue to bring our own bottled water, bring more of our own beer and wine, and continue with our dining reservations. Even with the help from the cm's, which was a big selling point for me previously, can be done on your own with the help of the My Disney Experience app. If I can't get an ADR on my computer, the club level cm's can't either. I found I needed their help less and less.
Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to help. I didn't upload pics because they aren't any different from what you have already seen online.
