Happy to answer any questions. We had 10 nights here from 20 - 30 March. Would recommend it highly.

Welcome home, ar you depressed yet? ;)

I have one question - not related to WL but one that has caused a lot of back and forth here over the last week...did you have any problems with your checked luggage being locked or unlocked? Delays because of checking bags? Bags that were checked locked but came off the carousel minus locks?

You'd have to to read through some of the threads posted while you were away to follow this one.

Welcome back John :) :) ! Sounds fanatastic!!

Yes, I'd also be interested to hear whether you kept your luggage unlocked as per USA requirements or if you were offered any advice from your airline on this.

Yep, I'd heard about this before we went, so I left the cases unlocked. We have hard cases and a few soft bags, so it wasn't a big problem. There were signs at check-in in MCO stating that locks should be left open in case they wanted to open the case. I don't particularly mind this, as it is for everyone's safety. I think they may have opened one of our hard cases because when we arrived back in Glasgow there was a drawstring from a hooded top caught in the side of the case which I don't remember doing before.

They are very into weighing not only your hold luggage which we expected, but also your carry-on. We all took trolley carry-ons and mine was slightly overweight, but the woman was very pleasant and said that if necessary we could just transfer some of my stuff to one of the other carry-ons if anyone questioned it at the gate. Not that they would have really been able to tell at the gate unless they had re-searched it.

By the way, yes, I'm depressed but I was catapulted back into working last night's night shift so I literally came home and grabbed a few hours sleep and was off to work. How depressing is that???! Reality on the way, extra quick, landing with massive thud me thinks!

Would say that concierge was well worth our upsell price. I would consider paying full price for the service also, but the upsell paid for itself in the breakfasts we took there and it was so nice sitting overlooking the lobby in the mornings with coffee, fresh orange juice, croissants, pastries, muffins etc etc. And it wasn't busy. We were staying about 8 doors down from the Presidential suite! Awesome.

We had lots of fun with the keycard in the lift and other -dare I say pass remarkable - guests.

Keep your questions coming!

Hi  ,

Glad you had a great time, we also stayed at Wilderness Lodge Concierge last December - Christmas Day at the lodge was amazing. The CM's at WL are wonderful.

I think that WL is now one of my favourite resorts - the theming is just incredible and I love all of the activities and sorroundings.

I couldn't persuade DW to stay there next year - 'she didn't like the location' :(

Did you try out 'Flag Family'?!

Richard. :)

Poor you! Better start saving for the next trip then ;)

As a relative newcomer to these boards and also WDW I am learning new things every day.

What is concierge?? I have looked through the Virgin and Airtours brochures but can't find any reference to this term.

Sorry to be such an ignoramus

Welcome Marlouwrig :)

It's a particular floor of a hotel that offers special and upgraded facilities - bit like club level in some other hotels - for which you pay a premium.

I'm sure someone can tell you exactly what these are at WL.

Hope that helps...

Hi marlouwrig  ,

Welcome to The Dis Boards!

Concierge is a service that is offered for a supplement at all of the Deluxe Walt Disney World resort hotels.

Concierge guests have access to a private concierge lounge, usually serving complimentary drinks and snacks during the day. At some resorts concierge rooms or suites may be situated on one specific floor. Concierge guests may also have a dedictaed check-in area and usually, near the concierge lounge is a dedicated and helpful team of Cast members who will make PS' for you and help with any queries.

Richard. :)

Hi there #1MMfan :D

It sounds lovely to stay in the concierge at WL. I am very jealous. Did you do any of the restaurants at WL? Any Favourites??

Kaylee

Hi Richard - no I didn't try Flag Family mainly because I'm paranoid about trying to recite the pledge of allegiance! We looked like idiots outside the American Adventure with the Fyfe and Drum core doing the same.

I would love to try this, but with my American cousins I think it would be easier!

Hi Kaylee, we ate breakfast at Whispering Canyon which was really nice, but we avoided Artist Point as my mum thought it might be too fancy and not to her taste. We also ate in Kona Cafe- Tonga Toast which I'd waited for over a year for! Yum Yum. Had a great waitress in Angela - very smiley and helpful. Also ate dinner at Flying Fish Cafe! What an experience. I thought they did steak and poultry as well, but their menu is pretty limited and we had completely OTT server who talked about 'his' personal specialities and most popular choices - reminded us of Franc in Father of the Bride!!

We had most fun with the elevators! When other guests entered and saw us swiping our key card they'd ask what was up on seven and was it the Penthouse!!!

I hope you told them, "Yes"! We stayed at AKL Concierge and the set-up sounds very similar to that at WL, with the Concierge Lounge overlooking the lobby.
