First, THANK YOU EVERYONE at the DIS!!!! Because of reading posts here, we ask for an upgrade from a woodsview room and got it! I read that the charge was $30, but we ended up paying $40 and it was worth every penny of it. We checked in at 9:30am and I think that had something to do with the great room we received. The CM that checked us in was wonderful, she specifically looked for a room with a great view for us. I think if we would have had the third room down, we would have had a perfect view of the castle in the daytime, but I am NOT complaining one bit! We were upgraded to room 7066, the first room in the hallway of the concierge located on the MK side of the resort. There were 2 dead trees blocking the view of the castle, but since they were dead, there was plenty of room between the dried up leaves to see the castle lit up in all its glory at night.
We were able to see Space Mountain and the Cont. with no problems, and if I stood on the chair on the balcony, I could see Astro Orbitor. The fireworks were great from the room, unfortunately, I left the video camera at home because we had gone on a cruise. I really wished I had risked it and brought the camera! (still kicking myself
) I must have spent hours on the balcony enjoying the view the two nights were were there. The room faced the service area, but we heard more noise from the Cont service area than the one below us. We could also see the otter pond, but did not get to see the otters. The balcony is enclosed, but I really liked it better that way. It made it seem like we had 2 rooms instead of one. It is also bigger than the regular balconies.
Everyone was wonderful to us. We asked for bottled water the second day we were there and they gladly got it for us. It came in very handy on our walk over to Ft.Wilderness that morning. (nice walk, btw) They also made PS for us at Cape May for breakfast. (nice, quiet charactor b-fast, but I like their dinners better) Micheal, I think, was even nice enough to look up info about the shuttle landing to find out exactily what time and what to expect. (I've been fighting tears since 9:25 Sat morning when we found out what had happened) The food was so abundant that we only had to "eat out" once a day. That alone was worth the $40. I could not believe how much it saved us. We ate and ate and ate and were stuffed the entire trip! LOL Thurs night's hot dish was pork in an apple glaze w/ navy bean soup. Fri night was veggie spring rolls and clam chowder. Both night were wonderful! The liquers in the evening were Godiva (my fav), Kahlua (mixed with the milk provided for Kahlua and Cream both nights, YUMMY), Baily's, Grand Marnier and DeSorrano amaretto. I admit, I tried a little of all of them both nights.
If I could change anything about this trip it would have been to remember to get hot chocolate to drink while we watched the fireworks. Other than that, everything was Perfect!
