We just came back from a week at the WL. I depended so much on this site to help me plan our trip. All of the researching really paid off. The dining plan went smoothly and the WL was just perfect. I'd be happy to help with any questions you may have:goodvibes

So glad you had a great trip to WL! What type of room did you stay in?? How was your view? We have a courtyard view booked for November and it will be our first WL experience. I am soo pumped! Would love to see any photos of the lodge if you took any! :)

I was afraid that someone would ask me to post pictures!! I have no idea how to do this?? Anyway, we had a "woods view". It was perfect. Very quiet in the North wing overlooking the pond. It was lovely sitting on the balcony after the parks and listen to the ducks and watch the bunnies. Very restful. The WL is so great. You made a wonderful choice!:thumbsup2

What were the crowds like? We are going during the same time frame next August.

Hi again! I was wondering how the transportation was. Did you prefer the boat or the bus to the MK? Did you find the room to be crowded? I have read that some people felt the rooms are cramped. It will be my DH's first ever DW trip so i want him to love where we stay. Did you try the Roaring Forks or Whispering canyon? We have dinner ressies at WCC on our first night. Thanks for any pointers etc!:thumbsup2

I have to say that it was crowded, but not horrible. We did get to the parks when they opened so the waits for rides were minimal. Fastpass was also great. I don't know why more people don't use it and just stand in line! The only problem was the heat. The heat index was over 100 each day, so we had to leave around noon each day and go back to the hotel. It was even too hot to sit by the pool. My kids just hung out, watched movies in the air conditioning, and then we were ready to go back to the parks in the evening. The heat was so bad, that one little boy passed out on the bus back from EPCOT! You just can't stay outside all day and realize that you will not see everything. It just leaves something to look forward to next time.

Is my room ready yet??? :lmao: We check in on 9/8/07!! Actually, my *real* question..is all the construction done on WL? When we there last year they were doing construction.

Hi! The boat was fabulous. I have previously only stayed at the monorail line hotels, so I was afraid that I would miss that convenience. Not at all! The boat was relaxing and quiet compared to the monorail and we got to the MK in no time. The wait for the boat wasn't bad. It's a nice change from the bus and I definitely recommend it. My kids loved it too. It wasn't a bumpy ride either. I don't know why people complain that the rooms are so crowded. They really aren't. They may be a little smaller, but we weren't uncomfortable at all! I have a son, 9 and a son 11 and we are all very happy in the room. Hidden Mickeys all over. We didn't eat at WCC because it was a little too loud for us. But it looked like those who ate there enjoyed it! Roaring Forks was our "hangout". We had breakfast there and many lunches. The soft ice cream machine was a favorite as well as the pizza. I don't know if you're on the dining plan, but you get a lot of food on it. Get the mugs, because they are definitely worth the money if you like to drink during the day. We brought our mugs to our meals and then took back bottles of water for the parks that were included on our DP. :cool1:

They were doing something in the lobby, but we really did not pay attention and it was not in the way. The hotel is just beautiful and the rooms look great. Compared to the Contemporary which has major construction, WL, really doesn't look like anything is going on.

Thanks for the info! I am really looking forward to our trip. I was a little nervous not booking a monorail resort so its good to hear that the transportation is good. One of the reasons we are going in november is because if the milder weather! We went to Orlando in May a few years ago and it was sooo hot! i am from southern louisiana and i could barely take the heat!

Hi, I don't mean to be horning in on Debby's thread, but since we are also just back from the WL (8/28 - 9/2) I thought I would horn in. :) When we were there, it was obvious they were refinishing the lobby floors, so some parts of them were blocked off. It didn't bother us at all. The work may be done by the time you read this.

This is our third stay at the WL, and our first where the bus service to and from MK was really working well. We love the ambiance of the boat, but if it's speed you're looking for (need to make that RD or EMH?), take the bus. I especially recommend the bus after the park closes. The WL bus stop is #1 - i.e., closest to the MK exit - and on two different nights, we walked onto buses after Wishes. This has NEVER happened to us with the boats. And did I mention that once the bus starts rolling, is is approximately 4 minutes to the WL (and vice versa in the opposite direction)? Who can complain about that?

I just got back from there as well and I agree about the bus...I took the boats everyday we went to MK, then decided to take the bus one afternoon...quickest trip I've ever been on at WDW...and regards to construction, they were redoing the floor in the lobby one section at a time...probably be done soon by the way they were going.

We are just back as well (Aug 26th-Sep 2) and as has been said the floors in the lobby looked like they were being refinished but nothing major going on at the resort.

Thanks for sharing! My family leaves in three weeks and will be staying at the WL for the first time. We have a courtyard view. Any suggestions for room numbers? Also, I have heard the rooms have flat panel TVs. Is this true? And is there a VCR or DVD player?

Hi Debby:

Our Grand Gathhering will be staying at WL this 12/01 - 12/08.

How much time would you say it took you to get to the various parks and DTD?
MK - Boat
AK - Bus
MGM - Bus
Epcot - Bus or other method (boat to MK - monorail to Epcot)
DTD - Bus

Thanks,

Mark

We were counting on free flights on SW for our February trip (rewards miles) but they don't appear to be panning out, which means $1000+ on airfare. We're going to have to downgrade from the Contemporary to afford it, so we were considering AKL or WL. We stayed at AKL and REALLY liked it, except for the location and the commute times to the parks. What you're saying about WL is very encouraging and I think we'll plan to stay there based on that. Thanks for helping make up my mind!

You won't be sorry with your choice! We absolutely love WL.

We stayed at CR last March. The MKV was wonderful, but the resort was a huge disappointment to us. We both said after that we should have stayed at WL instead.

Hope you have a magical trip!

resort was a huge disappointment to us.

It was all about the location. My wife really wanted to stay there because of the short walk to MK and the monorail. I'm psyched about the WL because I love to relax after a hectic day at the park. That's why I liked AKL so much - it was cool just to chill on the balcony and watch the animals after running around the parks all day. Since it appears that the bus ride to MK is short and the boat ride works fine too, that should make the wife happy. And that's my job - keeping the wife happy!
